Spock is a common name on Vulcan. Literally, L'Roy Spock was the worst time agent the federation had, and also the best. He worked as a roadie for the Beastie Boys, which allowed him plenty of excuses to travel around the globe on his missions fighting a group of Kelvan pirates. Unfortunately, he didn't understand what a "blunt" was, which is how he ended up on an album.

Any fan of the Beastie Boys knows this. Who else was going to build them a giant robot in Tokyo? WHO DO YOU THINK WAS PILOTING IT?! Why do you think there was a giant tentacle monster, who was actually a Kelvan!

44% of PROFITS, not gross income.

Which means that even if companies were actually charged for the mess they made, they would be operating in the black AND their profits would still be 66% of normal.

There are programs out there (varies by state and county) which will allow you to be paid as a caregiver for your mom. That should alleviate some of the strain of caring. There are also services out there for in house caregiving assistance, which is lower cost than a care home.

County health agency should also be able to provide information on how to get your mom on disability, which opens up a wide range of program options.

Best to contact your county health agency for more information. They will have the scoop on your best local options.

A few years back, I lived in the SF Bay Area. Driving home at 3am, drive time was 45 minutes. During daylight hours? 3 hours, each way. I would leave at 6am, get there at 9am, and then when I turned around to go home at 6 pm I would get home at 9pm. Longer on Fridays.

This was my best option. Commuting on rail and bus wasn't possible because the hours the bus ran were too short, when the bus showed up at all. Ironically, if there were better bus service from rail hubs in the SF/South Bay, I would probably have never left.

Rail and bike worked, except I literally had to jump off my bike at least twice to avoid being killed by drivers, in addition to people trying to door me, run me off the road, or cut me off- mostly by people who literally would rather kill me than yield for a bike (and yes, I was following all traffic laws, even when they weren't). Also, being harassed by police for various reasons, including for locking my bike up to street signs because there is no bike parking in the Bay Area. I once had a San Jose police officer pull a gun on me and threaten to shoot me if I didn't get off my bike and walk it down an empty street, just because.

Motorcycle didn't work because I had people cut me off or door me to keep me from riding around them in traffic. Radio DJs would regularly joke about dooring motorcyclists. After seeing too many downed motorcyclists, and a couple of my own near mishaps, I stopped riding a motorcycle there.

And, yes, that burned me out. I moved away from there, found work in places where I could safely ride a bicycle or remote work. My health as been better for it.

Never going back to commuting if I can possibly avoid it.

Democrats like to portray the Party as progressive, but progressivism is really just window dressing for the Democratic party. They like that progressive ideas get them followers, and sometimes a few progressives get elected (often opposed by their own party), but in general the party is Center Right with some moderate trappings.

Which is why it is so ineffective. This is by design.

Monogamy isn't actually practiced by most of humanity. The existence of STIs that have evolved in the human population is ample enough evidence of that. STIs simply wouldn't exist if monogamy was actually the norm. People may find it easier at times to pair off for sexual activity, but if monogamy was the norm then there wouldn't be any opportunity for STIs to thrive.

The prevalence of paired relationships in many countries has to do with laws, taxes, and health benefits. (US perspective here) Many US states make it impossible for people in poly relationships to have and raise kids together. Those US states that don't make it legally impossible make things difficult. Even for people in poly relationships without kids, there are issues of health care and access to family members in hospital and care settings, etc. All of this is a lot of extra effort that many people just aren't willing to deal with, even if they wanted to be in a poly relationship.

From a purely mechanical perspective, human genitalia are physically evolved for multiple partners (simultaneous or serial). Species that are evolved for monogamy have very very different sexual organs.

I use FREEOTP+. It's on F-Droid and Gstore. It easily exports to JSON and key URI formats. Has a dark mode.
