They just need to become non-profit and cap wage differentials within the company to 5x, then donate the surplus to the IPCC.

Big Oil doesn't need to advertise. They do lobbying instead.

Look at the old one for some life encouragement.

Tolkien warned us. Nobody can carry the ring, it must be destroyed. But nobody wants to destroy it.

Except a few anar.. ehm, some hobbits.

How do you destroy power without creating a power vacuum ready to be filled by someone else?

It would be like overthrowing the government/corporates and then placing hidden snipers around the government/corporate building, shooting down anyone staying there for too long.

Gravity set the stage for the ball to fall downwards, free of charge common sense concludes.

So how do you actually do this? Doesn't 'tinkering things together' require quite a bit of knowledge in electrical engineering, mechanics, plumbing, and carpentry?

I know it's DIY, but god damn until I learn my lessons I'll lose two fingers, my eyebrows and probably an eye.

TL;DR - it's getting hotter due to climate change, so trees are dying. This will likely make things hotter.

Yes, and how is turning yourself ON FIRE related to a constructive solution to the problems in the Middle East?

I hear your point but I'm not buying it. Sounds like fear to me. I think people should do ALL KINDS of shit EVERYWHERE. Not fit themselves into some kind of rational frame of "what makes sense".

I'd guess it's not what "makes sense" that sparks revolutions, it's the real crazy stuff.

In Rhode Island, for example, oil companies say the judge hearing their case created the “appearance of bias” by citing two news stories about climate change that had not been entered into the record.

In Hawaii, a conservative group is casting doubt on the objectivity of a judge because he’s involved in an organization that provides legal education on climate science, among other topics.

Winning tactic? Questioning state judges’ objectivity doesn’t appear to be making much headway for the industry so far.

Seems like the white suits in the oil industry have decided to go fishing. Soon they'll revert to the desperate fallback argument - God: "God put this oil here for us to use."

Actually, it pushes the envelope. People making sacrifices makes the best kind of point to other people.

The Arab spring comes to mind.

Was that man also an idiot who didn't inspire anything?

At some point, the spark will catch.
