Nice initiative ! We are working defining such a platform and I'm working on a thesis (that is an educational resource) about the world situation, information sharing, Internet history, etc. Based on this we try to define standards about how to share information for everyone (open). Some of our conclusion that I don't see you mentioning on your beta version are that the very tool we use to access and share information is not (yet) open.

As you probably know:

  1. The Internet works with third parties that host information and that we need to trust in order to access it.
  2. The DNS (that is responsible for the Internet queries) is owned by 12 organizations. They have the "switch" to censure or remove information.
  3. Internet infrastructure is not open. The main infrastructure is owned by big companies, the CPU and other hardware is proprietary, which means that even open source software runs on proprietary hardware. Without mentioning the raw material, and the basic electronic components made in China... In the case of a collaspe, the supply chains are broken.

Some of the conclusion: We need to change (fork) the Internet that can be open. On top of it, we can consider creating platforms that can be open. (long way to go and in the mean time, mid-solutions can be set.)

What do you think ? Do you plan to think about it ?

Do you know about SafeNetwork ? https://safenetwork.org/

I would be happy to talk more about it !

Hey amazing project !

We are working on a similar topic. In short, we try to build a model based on open standards defining how to build and implement "open" (from open source, open economy, etc.) and sustainable DIY infrastructure. You can imagine an online IKEA for open source infrastructure technologies !

We are in the beginning of the project and in the process of launching a git repository soon, but we already have a lot to discuss I guess !

Feels good to see people working on similar projects. Looking forward to talk more in depth !

How do we organize ?
