This is what I did too! In my case, it was partly because my monitor (Samsung Odyssey G8) had issues with flickering when games had high frame rates (e.g. 2D games and game menus) without the fps cap.

I think that would be great! I’m sure it’s more difficult than it seems, though, to port over the entire backend to Lemmy, especially with its decentralized nature. Also I’m sure Christian is a bit burnt out after the Reddit fiasco, so I can’t fault him for taking a breather.

I think you're totally right! That's partially why I said it's a bigger problem on Lemmy. Tools like browse.feddit.de will be pretty important; it'd be great if they were placed prominently somewhere.

It looks really great! Minor point, but I was mildly amused by Basim's complete lack of expression as he's executing the last assassination: https://youtu.be/gcLe3Rkqo_0?t=394

Yeah the ground-to-space sequence was great. I wonder if that extended ~15 second duration where the ship is completely surrounded by fog is essentially hiding the game loading. If so, it's very nicely done.

Although this issue might be more severe for Lemmy, I think it still occurs on Reddit, but it ends up working itself out. For instance, there's also a "r/tech" and (at some point) there was a "r/technologynews" subreddit, which you could view as redundant and possibly confusing to new users. But r/tech seems to have focused on longer-form more in-depth discussion while r/technology is certainly the larger and more general of the two, so most users will probably just sub to the larger one and maybe others will decide they like the vibe of r/tech more. In the long term, I'm sure a similar thing will happen to communities with the same, or close to the same, name.

I'm really excited! My partner and I immediately fell in love with it from the art-style and 2D-to-3D gameplay. No release date yet, though, right?

Seems like a good length. I'm guessing we'll take closer to an hour as well since I usually end up trying to read all the plaques :P

This was one of my favorite subreddits on Reddit, and I'm hoping to get something started here! (hopefully some r/legendsofruneterra mods will eventually come over and take the reign)

Not yet, but I'm hoping to go soon! How long did it take you to go through just the Hokusai exhibit?

Despite the traversal / shader compilation stutters, I've been really enjoying Dead Space! The ambience and graphics are top notch and the seamlessness of the world is really nice for exploration and backtracking. It would be great if they improved performance over all, but it seems like it's mostly been abandoned and the last patch was quite a while ago...

Apollo is similar! iirc the only "functional" feature locked beyond a paywall is submitting posts (which you could argue is a pretty big feature to lock away). But I think the majority of users rarely submit posts, and the "pro" tier was just a one-time $5 payment. I found Apollo very intuitive to use and very minimalistic; there was very little fluff to distract from posts and comments.

The atmosphere and visuals of the trailer were incredible, although it would have been nice if they showed off some gameplay footage. It's not clear to me how "in-engine" cinematics will translate to the actual game. I haven't played the first game, though. Would people recommend checking it out before the sequel comes out?

The community path is now open!. Beyond commuting to and from the green line extension, it looks like this could be nice for recreation, as an extension of the Minuteman.

Anyone here bike as their main form of commute?

Anyone have any thoughts / experience with the Wooting optical switch keyboards? I like the idea of having an optical WASD. When playing games on a keyboard, motion being a binary toggle is more jarring than when using a joystick.

I was worried about compatibility, but it seems like the Wooting can emulate a controller so it just requires the game to support simultaneous keyboard / joystick input.

I recently beat the first boss and am having a good time so far. I find the dodge a bit clunky, but it seems like the game is trying to push you more towards blocking (and perfect blocking).

Overall, I love the fact that a demo for this game exists and that it feels quite polished!

Never had the chance before, but seems like now's my opportunity...

Apollo has been one of my most used apps the past couple years... it'll be sad saying goodbye.
