So there were NO guards watching the future king heir?? Wondering if that will be a plot point next week.

Also why is there almost no discussion here? It's a popular show and thought there would be more activity....

I just started Slewfoot! I won't read the spoiler but am definitely feeling the sluggish part. It's still holding my attention though.

It was good and held my attention. Pace and dialogue felt right and the mystery didn't feel too cliche. I was dumb and read the plot for the next two books so I'm not as eager to continue, but I am looking forward to how the next season of the TV series goes.

Yeah definitely that's how I understood it, but now it sounds like they are categorizing Hispanic as a race not an ethnicity.

Yes! I was thinking Nausicaa would be beautiful to see on the big screen. I did Howl's last year and it was nice too.

What movie will you see?

I know this isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, but I will always be confused on what to put for myself. My family comes from Central America (I have dual citizenship), so I should pick Hispanic, right? But my family is also white Hispanic, my cousin's have a range of blonde and red hair, light eyes. I also have some Asian Hispanics in my family.

Hispanic really isn't a race and it feels like I'm not supposed to pick it on the census because I don't have the right skin color.

Whereas someone who does look Hispanic the way people think of, but maybe their family hasn't lived there for generations, they get to be considered more Hispanic than me. It's just confusing.

Yes! In the spirit of posting, some of the things I'd like to see more engagement in (and I'll do my part) are television, movie, and book communities. On reddit I loved discussing the latest episodes of my favorite shows or hearing about theories in the books I'm reading.

If it's to hang out with friends then those private karaoke rooms are a lot of fun

Thanks for the great write up! You have some good suggestions I haven't tried. I'm encouraged.

I swear I'm smart and have pretty ok reading comprehension...but when I pick up a new game I have the hardest time understanding the rules and mechanics by just reading the instructions. Watching videos is helpful but I still really only pick it up while playing the game and going through the motions.

So I'm slowly collecting games that I can't play until I find people who know how to play.

How easily do you pick up new games?

For a moment I was confusing it for the cancelled Apple show Metropolis...I was really looking forward to that. But now I know this movie exists and am excited for it. I love original epic sci-fi!

I've been in a horrible reading slump for years. I was fine with audiobooks and podcasts but just couldn't concentrate on reading.

Finally I've found that Agatha Christie novels hold my attention - they are fast paced, not overly complicated, and got me interacting with the story as I played detective while taking notes on the clues in the story.

Now that my reading muscle memory is coming back, I'm able to branch out to more complex books.

What type of books break your reading slump?

I'm currently reading the book series that Howls Moving Castle is based on and it's so charming! Some big differences but I feel like the tone is similar. I'm curious what other good ones are out there based on other Ghibli movies.
