Looks like a Slim Chickens has been proposed west Ann Arbor off Zeeb and Jackson. I believe this is the lot next to the new Panera Bread. Slim Chickens looks like a fried chicken type restaurant, similar to a Zaxbys. Anecdotally, I don’t think there are many fried chicken or chicken wing takeaway type places in Ann Arbor, but I’m not a big fried chicken guy so correct me if I’m wrong.

Speaking of Panera Bread, the old location on Jackson is proposing upgrading the lot with a drive through. That’s curious, they might have already found another tenant.

Yes. Mainly by getting between sheets and creating room for air to circulate. If you get wool ones, they do help wick a little moisture, but bigger benefit is that they helps soften natural fibers and don’t make as much noise as rubber dryer balls. Bonus, they last forever and you don’t have to use chemical fabric sheets or softener. Definitely a good investment.

I mentioned Sam Hill getting approval from Scio Township last year but I’ve been skeptical this entire time that Sam Hill would actually open. The entire plan was ambitious and that location seems like a tough place to thrive.

However, I’m happy to see progress, and I noticed they are hiring for their fall opening. The construction looks good, and they’ve been active on social media. I’m excited to see this place open, this side of town is severely lacking in restaurants. The success of Session Room makes me believe there is real demand for a more casual and beer/pub focused experience. There are a lot of families out that way with young kids and an open beer garden concept will attract that crowd.

For context if you missed it: Sam Hill is a restaurant with beer garden and large outdoor venue. I’m not too familiar with the details of the menu etc., but it looks promising. It’s popped up over the last couple of years as a concept, then approvals, and finally looks to be crossing the finish line.

It’s great to see Blank Slate expanding! Looks like they’re planning a larger production facility in Scio Township, mainly focused on production but also building a small carry out capability focused on online orders. That’ll be nice for folks outside the core who just want to grab a pint or two!
