Conservatives hate these not because they don't work, but that they shouldn't work. They insist that the only thing that matters is piety and hard work. If those aren't enough, you just aren't pious enough and aren't working hard enough, even if the work literally crippled you that you cannot do as much of it as you did before.

It is entirely about being cruel and evil as a policy.

Some asshole needs to remind him of something called evaporation and vapor pressure...

The guy is so fucking delusional it isn't funny. He was always a dumbass even back in the 80s.

Telling something or someone to go hang was a very strong insult in those days. Even worse than saying go fuck yourself. Because hanging was how people were executed, meaning they are the most unwanted people in society...

I loved it when I first read it and this is my favorite part:

But if I am to understand that you are enquiring whether I am of Jewish origin, I can only reply that I regret that I appear to have no ancestors of that gifted people.

At that time it was considered better, and they sure as hell wouldn't be homeless.

At that time it was.

If you went 100 years back in time and told people that school teachers would be dead broke despite making the best financial decisions possible and be nearly homeless despite working long hours they would be fucking shocked.

Being a school teacher, even one for elementary school kids, in the late 19th century was not only a respectable profession, but also decently paid. I think Horrible Histories said that the average school teacher in the 1880s and 1890s in the UK made around 60 pounds sterling a year, which was a fairly decent wage at the time.

OK so I did watch Rich Kids in the City... and I actually don't remember much about the show because it didn't impact me much (blasphemy, I know!). And I am aware of who Alex Jones is and have watched his downfall with much pleasure... and I am not lactose intolerant! So bring on the cheese!

I have no idea what this Rich Kids In the City is, or Loud Guy Radio, and I am not a sports fan, but I think I'd like to try some of that fried cheese!

I will not forget how Elon forced everyone but work visa immigrants (who didn't have their Green Cards yet) to stay at Twitter. As an immigrant (and now naturalized citizen) to Canada who also grew up in Dubai (where I was not a citizen either, despite being born there) I felt the pain of the precarious situation that they were. This also made me hate Elon far more than I did already.
