I've had a lot of timeouts and blank loading screens. But my device is a cheap almost 4yo Android phone that I don't think is meant to be still going, so I thought it was me!

I'm loving your Goodnight from Gibson nightly posts. Goodnight you two!
The skin specialist rang to organise an appointment with me. Earliest they can do is end of next week. Ok. Then she tells me it'll cost $365 and I'll get $80 back via Medicare. She heard the thing in my voice when I agreed to the appointment and said if I wanted to cancel at any stage to just let them know by Tuesday. I just can't afford it and Elder's therapy as well. Feeling very conscious about the takeaway we had this evening, we shouldn't have had it, but I came home tonight and just didn't have it in me to cook. Mr P just laying about in bed most of the time with no energy and feeling guilty. That's what it's like after the heart procedure thing he had, my MIL reckons, as his dad was the same. Boss shuts the factory for 3 weeks over Xmas and New year, so that's 3 weeks with no dough. Time to get tougher with money.
Please don't think I'm weird, and your apples are surely lovely, but the first thing I noticed was your hands looking so beautiful and young! My 51 year old hands are lined and creased from hard manual work, dry skin in places, ruddy from years of hot water and wiping and scrubbing and washing, with brutally short nails for hygiene reasons. And I wear gloves at work, but not often at home.
Is this their new digs at the Werribee zoo? πGlad they've got more room now.
Stunning rose, but caused by the bane of all our existences: the slacklustre tradie.
Lol same, I lived with people who spent their entire food budget in a few days π€¦πΌββοΈI was living on about $25 per week but it was easier then. I'd get a bag of spuds, bag of onions, garlic, big bag of red or brown lentils, some budget cans of tomatoes, dried pasta, rice, a bag of apples, a couple of key vegetables that were cheap and in season and a couple of packets of herbs/spices (thus building a supply of herbs and spices over time available to enhance my cooking). I would combine these ingredients in different ways over the week to try to make it interesting. When it was someone's birthday I'd lash out on a King Island Brie and red wine. I've probably never eaten so well lol.
That's tragic but also understandable. Working in elite food environments and having a partner who was a chef opened my eyes to a lot of things. If the integrity of the ingredients is paramount to you then it's so hard to compromise for the sake of $.
My plan today: go to the market. My strategy is to give every member of the household a limit, say $40. The ones who want to spend more will negotiate with those who don't spend that much and it's great to see the kids in action making deals with their father and each other over who's getting what.
Out of curiosity I googled "Melbourne pie shop closing down" and.. wow, so many! Too many in the past few years π’(My local is hanging on, but business rental prices in my area have skyrocketed and a lot of shops that have been there for years have closed. Including my beloved computer repair guy who'd been there since 1986 or something.)
I've been wanting to give my local maggies and crows a treat, there are heaps in the few tall trees in my street. I love the crows, they're so shiny!
