Yeah I've read that as a common criticism. That's why I tried it solo first which was meh, then with just my GF. Tonight we should only be 2 or 3 to play so hopefully it wont be too bad.

I like your username! Sadly too many in my circles don't like that game so it rarely comes out...

Thanks. I'll try it with my gaming group and maybe give it a second shot with my GF.

I love terraforming mars. I'm contemplating buying my own (hard) copy but we have it on the tablet already and our gaming friends have two physical copies.

I couldn't locate this particular spot but it's suggested to be in the city center. It might be this one: https://www.google.com/maps/@60.1690393,24.9398838,1100m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu

Kids aren't gonna randomly start playing there. If you look around on the linked map, there are parks all over the place. It is much more likely for kids to play there, where it's nice, than on some major road.

Google isn't spitting out any results no matter how I search for it but I'm under the impression that kids in Finland go to school on their own basically starting with kindergarten. At least there are plenty of countries where they do, so kids are obviously capable of navigating public space safely and independently. I know I did. I crossed 3 main roads on the way to kindergarten.

To each their own. I'd much rather play a longer but more exciting game. "At least it's over quickly" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for a game...

Not so much a strategy but a rules upgrade:

Too many games of UNO end in very predictable and unspectacular fashion because one player is clearly ahead but their neighboring players don't have any cards to throw down.

Allowing every player to attack any other player not only mitigates this issue but also makes the game much more dynamic.

Playing a +2? Simply point at the player you want to draw two cards. With a +4 you could even let the attacker split the attack and say "you take 2 and you take 2"

You also don't have to see the outside of the Multipla while inside of it!

My gaming group played a round of Mystic Vale. We used totems and leader but not amulets. I kinda stumbled into using the good old Growth build because I couldn't really collect much of anything else for a long time. I saw them laying around and figured "oh well". After a bit I quickly caught up and overtook everyone else.

Afterwards we tried our hand at Thanos Rising but were immediately stomped into the ground. One of us for never got off the ground and then made the fateful mistake of going into a sector that would dish out three damage to his color IF it got activated. Narrator: it did in fact get activated.

On the weekend I tried Imperium: Classic with my girlfriend but as I feared it is a bit too complex for her to enjoy. We were both about to rise to empire status when we tallied the score, which was pretty close. It's a fascinating concept, having truly individual startig decks and going from there. But the rules are so cumbersome. Having to look up a billion keywords all the time just slows everything down so badly. But now that I have the rules present in my mind again I'll see if my gaming group will play it. This week we might only be 3 that would be a good opportunity.

Many trams don't actually drive that fast. Some googling suggests this is Helsinki. Their trams run at 14km/h. That's easily slow enough to react to a kid running onto the track.

Also this seems to have roads on either side, so I don't think there would be many children playing in that area.

Probably the bridge. DM crafted such an amazing puzzle and the paladin being a good boy learned it perfectly. Group was like: You know it'd be fun to see what the DM does if I accidentally put my foot on it.

Also the five questions. You could see that coming from MILES away but it was still hilarious.
