If I had to guess, it's primarily to make people feel safer, security theater type stuff. I'm usually against that sort of thing, but you want people to feel it's safe to vote, so if you gotta do some silly stuff, so be it. Plus it's not like having narcan on hand is literally ever a bad thing.
Irremarkable
Seriously, I don't think I've seen this kind of blatant "PAY ATTENTION TO ME I'M QUIRKY" behavior since AIM.
Will it change the mind of the hardcore MAGA base? Absolutely not. Will it make a large number of people switch from Trump to Harris? Probably not. It could, however, make some of the more reluctant Trump voters simply say fuck it and stay home.
This was precisely how it worked for the ACT at my high school
Should probably read the community rules, considering The Hard Times are explicitly listed as one of the recommended satire sites Fucking idiot
Oh I'm aware, I just don't count them because helping new families isn't actually the point of those.
It always pisses me off when people try claiming they want to do that last part.
Not a single thing is stopping them from setting up support networks that, while I disagree with their politics, could legitimately do good by giving new families resources. But that's not actually what they want, it's never been what they want. Because if it was, they'd have done it already.
It's as simple as the cruelty is the point. Someone doesn't live their life exactly how they think it should be lived, they believe that person should be punished.
Not with that attitude
I don't think that's the most likely outcome, but I could definitely see it happening and actively am hoping for it.
"No you're not allowed to call fascists and terrorists what they are, that's divisive!"
