Heck, in the US I'd almost say all politics is political violence. It seems that anytime you advocate for nonviolence here you're called naive at best, murdered at worst. Plus, our whole society was built in blood.

I'm on municipal power, by my MIL 10 minutes away is on PG&E and her rate is easily 4x mine, it's absurd. She doesn't even have AC and her power bill is over $800/mo!

Pfffft as though we'd be so sane as measure flour by weight instead of volume

It looks like the average is 11 PTO days a year according to Forbes, with nearly a third of employees getting zero. I myself get 24 days a year with it going up to 29 in about a year. That said I'm terrified of being effed over by layoffs so I've been hoarding them like a dragon for the payout, which is arguably way way worse than having a nice federal minimum of PTO days.

The country of Brazil makes something like 20x Musk's total net worth, but every year.

It's a set of patches for the base ISO, so hopefully it's pretty resistant to takedown? In either case I'm downloading it now while it's up.

The problem was that hand counting votes in a county of our size is not legal, and I'm pretty sure we ended up switching to different machines anyway, so it seems to have just cost money and turmoil for no benefit to us.

In published media it's getting really frustrating to find articles that seem like honest reviews. The NYT did an article on toaster recommendations and they praised one for having something like a 3 year warranty because "toasters aren't known for their longevity."

This jerk convinced my county to get rid of our voting machines. A county that's always been about 65% red 35% blue.

Yeah I'm totally sure Biden stole the election by having a county in California vote the way they had been voting for decades.
