@badbrainstorm @usrtrv I have bad news for you. EVs don't really solve the car noise problem entirely. At highway speeds 60% of noise is from tires. Since EVs are still giant deadly chunks of metal moving through pedestrian space at lethal speeds, it's useful to still hear them so they also often have speakers at low speeds. Then there's horns and car alarms, nether of which are any different with EVs.

Even if EVs didn't have most of the same problems as gas cars, there isn't enough lithium on earth to replace gas cars. Even if there was, it would be necessary to roll out a whole nation wide infrastructure that's just not realistic.

What you want is bike infrastructure and mass transit. Bikes and trains solve all of these problems and a lot of others, like the fact that cities aren't walkable because half of the surface area has to be taken up by parking.
