Thanks. Do you know what I could have done wrong? I've looked through all the config files and there's nothing about a display in them, unless you count lemmy-ui

I'm a degree-holding job-working scientist and I love science. I also love magic. Magic can be proven. Scientists have published hundreds of papers on the powerful placebo effect, also known as magic. Don't tell me you're going to deny the existence of the placebo effect?

Scientism is so pervasive and so ridiculous. For example there's people who say magic isn't real because science can explain it. No shit science can explain it, that's the point of science. It's people defining science in opposition to magic based on cultural values instead of actually knowing what science is. https://medium.com/@viridiangrail/tautological-denial-of-magic-0e311ca94c2a

You mean the response that was entirely based on the false claim that Discord has terms of service about only speaking one language on a server?

[–] Grail@aussie.zone -1 points 9 months ago

The comment under the article claims that Discord's suggestion of having language rules is a term of service. The one thing it's based on is false. Just like your comment saying I'm on a two year (false) crusade (false). As I wrote in the previous article, I didn't even think I knew Interstellar until they banned me for being antiracist a year ago. An event so unremarkable I forgot it immediately. There's been no harassment of any kind either. What there has been is racist attempts by white supremacists to suppress australian languages in australian online communities. Since you ignored the point of the article and said it's okay to silence indigenous languages if you have an excuse for doing it, I'm going to assume you either didn't bother to read the article, or are Spark's alt account.

There's no such thing as objective reality. The belief in objective reality has caused untold harm through history. It's used to delegitimise trans identities and indigenous spiritualities. It was used to form theories of race realism, phrenology, and eugenics. It was the justification used by Europeans for the Crusades, slavery, and colonisation. Every one of the worst actions of humanity has resulted from realism.

The diagnostic criteria for NPD include "Interpersonally exploitive behavior", which doesn't describe a symptom of an illness, but an effect on others. This is bad psychology. Psychologists are doctors, not priests. Morality is not medicine. The responsibility of a doctor is to help a patient, not judge them. The DSM's entry on NPD is bad. And many experts agree on this, because even the inclusion of the disorder in the fifth edition was controversial.

The diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder in the DSM-IV has been criticized foremost for its limitations in capturing the range and complexity of narcissistic pathology. The attention to the narcissistic individual’s external, symptomatic, or social interpersonal patterns—at the expense of his or her internal complexity and individual suffering—has also added to the diagnosis’ low clinical utility and limited guidance for treatment. Recent studies and reviews have pointed to the need for change in the diagnostic approach to and formulation of narcissism.

There's no point making an appeal to authority when the authorities are in such disagreement about the fundamentals of NPD. It's better to listen to actual pwNPD with lived experience.

Thank you. Spreading the politics of soulism has been an uphill battle with the general public, but when I present any one of these points to an expert it's immediately agreed with. The fact that reality is fake is basically common knowledge among sociologists. It seems, however, that few people have turned this fact into a political will and praxis. The closest I've seen anyone come is certain mystery cults. My long term plan is to build a serious political movement. In my opinion there has been a serious flaw in the trans acceptance movement globally up until now in that it did not include soulism. Soulist theory handily disarms every single transphobic talking point with the simplest of logic. And the lateral violence that some privileged queer people exert on those whose identities have less social acceptance suddenly becomes impossible. I think trying to claw forward in rights one identity at a time is a mistake. What our community needs is decisive action to protect everyone who ever has and ever will have a queer identity. And the soulist community is the only political group I've ever seen act in such a manner. Individuals, yes, but I have not seen blanket acceptance on a mass scale, because all hitherto mass movements relied on assimilating certain identities into reality.

Narcissists are constantly self-critting. Our grandiose personas are just lies we used to insulate ourselves from our own self-hatred. Our failures make us want to kill ourselves. That can go in the direction of cowardice where we refuse to face the failures constantly bothering us, but if a narcissist has a brave bone in their body they can leverage that into addressing their failures and becoming an awesome person.
