I mean already in 2018. Of course US meddling goes a long way back.

Yeah I agree with that. It just seems that either way Pakistan is a long way off a stable democracy.

Thanks for the link, holy shit. The TMR interview actually did mention that article but didn't really put it in context.

What is interesting though is that they provide a bit more background to Imran Kahn as a Trump-like populous that got co-opted by the Pakistan military and his own election in 2018 was also quite questionable (previous PM was jailed). Until they had a big falling out ending in riots and mass arrests.

Overall this story reminds me a bit of Patriot... so much shady dealings and then falling flat on their faces, including now failing to properly rig the election lol. I'm not even sure if I should root for Imran Khan here. Hasan Ali describes him as willing to do pretty much anything in the pursuit of power.

But it's scary how precarious all this is and the role of the IMF and US. They get the bailout but have to cut energy subsidies which leads to protests and political instability... I feel like more and more the wheels are coming off in all these meddling affairs around the world.

In every official statement they say that their attacks will continue until "the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip stops, and medicine and food enter the Strip." With the entry of the international coalition to fight against Yemen, the Houthis announced that American and British targets in the Red Sea also were legitimate targets.

Their "demands" are pretty reasonable. They are a pretty shit (islamic) regime but they are "just" imposing sanctions against Israel.

The ICJ order states that Israel HAS to stop killing Palestinians and provide humanitarian aid. So Yemen imposing sanctions is legally absolutely justified. Instead the US and all the countries removing funding from UNWRA are making themselves complicit in genocide.

So it's the US and the UK who are the aggressors here. They have also attached the Houthis for a decade. Also note that the Houthies are not a proxy for Iran, and what they are doing here is in their own political interest to stay popular with their own people. Israel is really fucking up the region.

The American version of Anubis is much friendlier though!

The only reason why republicans are against this I can imagine are:

  1. Make Biden look weak ("Oh shucks I can't make them do anything!") and Trump strong by comparison
  2. Because they follow their leader Trump who is somehow in bed with Putin

I just saw a video about Pakistan and it didn't seem to be clear the CIA is responsible for this: Why Pakistan Locked Up It's Leader | Hasan Ali | TMR. But I'd be interested in any info to the contrary!

Friesen's goal is to democratise access to water for people with few options

A panel costs about $2,000 (£1,500) and lasts at least 15 years

"These panels are constructed to create four to five litres of drink per panel per day,

So 22.000 liters over 15 years or 22m³ for $2000. That's $11 per liter. Maybe half that if their AI improvements pan out. But way too expensive.

The dissonant / solar heating approach is pretty nice though. This could be interesting if you could build this DIY with simple materials.
