The place I was in at the time, it was a struggle to convince myself that I should shower more than once a week and not cry over how I was going to find the money to buy my kids socks. When life is that stressful and depressing, it's hard to see and to take on more issues than what you're already trying to overcome on a day to day basis.

Again, I used to think that people in power couldn't be that evil, but now moving past that place I can see how keeping people down, under pressure, and uneducated really does benefit certain groups.

From personal experience, when you're working 2 jobs and raising 3 kids and spend every waking moment worried you can't pay your bills or that you suck as a parent because you're not around enough, taking time to research candidates feels impossible. Which is right where some like to keep us.

I'm in a better place now and have the time to do the work to make better decisions, but it still feels like an uphill battle against the multitude of the uninformed.

I haven't experienced this, but from what I hear if you start with cooler water in the bottom and have the heat set too high, you can overheat the pot and the grounds before the water comes to temp to actually brew.

The few times I've used my moka pot I've preheated the water in a kettle so it gets to brewing faster (based on coffee people recommendations online.)

My understanding is that if the food is easily swallow sized, they may unintentionally crunch as they maneuver the food around their mouths to position it to be swallowed, but not out of necessity. If the food is larger, sure they'll break it up so they can swallow it easier. But by nature, cats aren't animals that need to chew food for grinding and digestive purposes (like animals that have flat/grinding molars.) As long as they can swallow it, they don't need to chew.

Perfectly fine.

My cat had the same tooth removal surgery a couple years ago (he was adopted with a mouth full of teeth where most were about to fall out). He was on soft food for about 2-3 weeks before he started picking at his dry food again. Now he gets a portion of wet food every morning, and free feeds dry all day.

What I learned from the vet is that cats use their teeth mainly to rip meat off their prey so they can swallow it, and not really to chew. So if they're presented with food that's an appropriate size to swallow, they just swallow it.

This was the first thing I thought of, but couldn't remember the artists name - thank you!

We don't know their age or experience. Unfortunately, there's going to be plenty of opportunities to catch up.

I wouldn't cook them as long though 👍.

Flashbacks to that fucking Netflix documentary, Don't Fuck with Cats.

Fuck.

👋

I'm bad about remembering.

Then again, I suspect I somehow may have ended up with the good gene as I have incredibly dry ear wax. On top of that I typically use antiperspirant instead of deodorant anyway, because I dislike feeling wet.

Straight water doesn't make me sick, but unless I'm already pretty thirsty (working hard/exercising outside in summer) and it's full of ice, I find drinking water unpleasant.

I'll drink water when I have to, but I'll drink flavored/calorie free drinks because I enjoy them, thus staying far more hydrated.

"go to self checkout or wait forever."

On the unfortunate days I have to stop at the store when myself and everyone else are getting off of work, I've seen the lines at self checkout as long or longer than the registers.

I'm use a self checkout if 1) there are empty checkouts and 2) I only have enough items that I can carry. Sure - then I'm getting in and out. But if I'm pushing a cart, I'm going to a cashier.
