I think the ubiquity is what did it. When it becomes commoditized, the only way to differentiate is to be seriously good (see Kitchenaide).

I am a longtime lurker going back ten years. I probably could count the number of posts on two hands. What worries me is being able to make the switch to the fediverse as a concept. Just hoping Lemmy is the right choice for now.

Sadly, much like a lot of research, even when we “know”, people sometimes refuse to see or hear without data and charts.
