Hey! Me and my friend will be hiking for the first time in Scotland. We plan to sleep in a tent, and we are looking to spend 5-7 days hiking. Any points that we should definitely put on our path? Thanks!

How fit are you?

If you can do 15-18 miles per day, the West Highland Way is an extremely popular and well catered for route.

Skye and the cuilleans the usual recommendation for a few days. Speyside way or the great glen way another option. Knoydart another fantastic walk. And round the cairngorm plateau another option, loads of side treks there

What time of year you thinking?

Thanks for the suggestions! We were planning for July

Excellent, well a couple of those are fairly remote, so I hope you've had some practice/experience. Usual advice in Scotland: 4 seasons in 1 day. Ultralight gear your friend. Water in July sometimes not the greatest access either. Leave a route plan, don't rely on phones, and be responsible when about. Best of luck!
