In a move sure to appeal to millennial parents everywhere, Fisher-Price has announced the launch of a new line of musical toys featuring beloved hits from the 90’s and 2000’s. “I simply couldn’t stand to hear “Old McDonald” or “BINGO” one more time,” remarked one local parent.  “For too long, parents have been subjected to the same tired tunes on repeat,” commented Fisher-Price spokesperson, Melody Rhymes. “With our new line of musical toys, we’re giving parents a much-needed break from the monotony while introducing their little ones to the songs of their youth.”

I would love this so much! I can't deal with the amount of cocomelon in my life!

Adafruit founder Limor "Ladyada" Fried and Phil Torrone designed and built open-source hardware to accomplish this with the Baby Einstein toys when they had a child. Nothing quite like Depeche Mode and The Cure coming out of a baby toy.

Highly recommended. Extra bonus in the video version: The adorably endearing bit where she refers to him as Mr. Ladyada.

If you're not familiar with their videos, they are a really wholesome duo and bring that along to the projects that they are involved in. Phil has a bit of a catchphrase that he's been saying for years on their New Product videos that starts every time with "And the star of the show today, besides you Ladyada...". And the CircuitPython weekly stand-up always has a section of the agenda dedicated to "Hug Reports" (practicing gratitude). It's great having positive presences in the Maker/Hardware Hacking community.
