These Israeli soldiers must have been terrorists. I guess it's true what people say about IDF. They shoot anything that moves.

[–] HeadfullofSoup@kbin.earth 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And with all the bombing IDF soldier are probably the last thing moving there

[–] Land_Strider@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Last thing or not, bombings and shootings will continue until ~~the morale improves~~ the beach houses are built.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 27 points 4 months ago (1 children)

they must have looked like kids

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 8 points 4 months ago

They were really far away, so they looked tiny.

[–] londos@lemmy.world 23 points 4 months ago

How could Hamas do this?

[–] machinin@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

It's a good start!

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

did the soldiers condemn Hamas?

[–] HuddaBudda@kbin.social 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The tanks identified a weapon in the building and fired two shells towards it, the probe found.
Seven other soldiers were injured by the tank fire, three of them severely.

Sounds like a tank gunner panic'ed when he/she saw a possible weapon that could take out the tank, with no communication for ground troops.

Another tragic loss of life. So Netanyahu can escape corruption charges.

with no communication for ground troops.

I mean, friendly fire due to miscommunication seems like a problem any army would have anticipated and planned for.

ooof... friendly fire.

Why is lemmy.zip still federated with Hexbear??

Some concrete examples of instances which we would defederate: An instance which is focused on creating spam in the network

Why doesn't spamming authoritarian propaganda count? Better to have corporate ads than dictators' lies.

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Just because you dont like their content doesn't mean it's spam. Just filter hexbear posts and grow some thicker skin

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee -3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's not normal content, it's propaganda. Whether that's technically spam or not, it's disinformation and intentionally corrosive content designed to spread division and hate.

It's not about me filtering out their propaganda and creating an echochamber. It's about resisting propaganda from dictators, and about playing a part in the Fediverse to help it survive and replace corporate social media.

People checking out Lemmy see Hexbear comments and go back to Reddit or wherever they came from. There are constant threads asking "how can I block a whole instance".

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 1 points 4 months ago

You know, you don't have to be here if you don't like the instance's policies. You're free to defederate yourself.

[–] BrikoX@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Having an opinion someone doesn't agree with doesn't make it invalid. I'm not an instance admin, so I have no say in who gets defederated, but in this community I welcome all opinions, no matter how popular or unpopular they might be.

People from democratic countries might call anything that doesn't agree with their world view a propaganda, yet on the flip side, countries from non-democratic countries might call anything that doesn't agree with their world view a propaganda. If we can't discuss our differences, then we are living in a bubble. If someone is never challenged, how can they refine their own position?

Rhetorical question to think about. Americans are likely to elect self-proclaimed authoritarian in the next election, should everyone defederate from instances that allow their opinions too?

In any case, this is not a place for this discussion. I would suggest making a post in !home@lemmy.zip.

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

I'm tolerant of different opinions, authoritarian propaganda isn't a different opinion, it's large scale coordinated misinformation. In this case coming from a government that has a long history of brutally killing people with "the wrong opinion".

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I also am not sure. My instance is also federated with them. I mostly just see CCP propaganda from them.

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

Exactly. The responses I'm getting here are ignoring what I'm saying and acting like they're just people with opinions I don't like.
