I made a quarter pipe for my bird feeder.

Cardinals have got to be the perfect bird for this with their little mohawks. What a cute photo!

[-] bugworld@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

Don't worry, Mr Cardinal got a turn too

I've always loved the sexual dimorphism of birds.

Most female birds are boring/dull colors meanwhile the males are all fuckin "WITNESS MEEEE!!!"

How hard was it to keep the patience to wait for this shot?

[-] bugworld@lemmy.world 56 points 2 weeks ago

Not too bad. I spent probably 6 hours watching the feeder. I ended up with three good photos. I got this one within the first 15 minutes:

This is awesome.

[-] Visstix@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Now you just need a hawk to land on it.

Dude, sick.

Gnarly! Did you print this? I'm looking into a bird feeder with a bird bath but choices are slim.

I designed and printed the quarter pipe. I can make the file available on Thingiverse if there is any interest in it. As photographed, it requires a tech deck and 4x M4x25 bolts with nuts. Fairly simple to assemble!

This is the feeder I have: https://www.amazon.com/Feeding-Station-Hanging-Squirrel-Attracting/dp/B09KGY9Q79/

Edit: fixed wording

Thanks for the link! I saw those but I was hoping to get a cohesive unit. Regardless, I would be interested in the file! It looks sick :D

[-] snf@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

First of all, this is amazing.

Second: your parents let you have a mohawk?
