Everything #OpenStreetMap related is welcome: software releases, showing of your work, questions about how to tag something, as long as it has to do with OpenStreetMap or OpenStreetMap-related software.

OpenStreetMap is a map of the world, created by people like you and free to use under an open license.

Join OpenStreetMap and start mapping: https://www.openstreetmap.org.

There are many communication channels about OSM, many organized around a certain country or region. Discover them on https://openstreetmap.community

https://mapcomplete.org is an easy-to-use website to view, edit and add points (such as shops, restaurants and others)

https://learnosm.org/en/ has a lot of information for beginners too.

I tend to use maps from a search browser and it suddenly occurred to me that if the search engine I used defaulted to open street maps I would use it. Do any search engines default map searches to open street maps?

@HubertManne Qwant.com uses "qwant maps", which is basically OpenStreetMap in a different branding.
DuckDuckGo has Apple Maps as provider, which is partially based on OSM (but, meh). However, the bang !osm will take you to OpenStreetMap (and !wosm brings you to the OSM-wiki)

!osmw also brings you to the wiki!

thank you. I am going with this at least initially. Found a firefox addon to add it to toolbar search too.

i recently learned on my android phone that after i disabled the default mapping app [google "maps"] it gave me the option to open maps from websites and other apps in one of the different mapping apps i had installed at the time: StreetComplete, Organic Maps [both OSM-based] and Randomnautica [which defaults to and re-enabled google "maps"] and gave options to open once in app chosen or to use it every time.

i am not sure if you use android, this is moot on desktop and others. commenting with the hope it might help someone someday. i hope this post isn't too old to be commenting on.

I go by the motto that a post is never to old to be commented on. I sorta hated with some forums where topics would get auto locked or something due to age.
