Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

Bruh... someone's trying to access my paypal account. You're just wasting your time, mah dude. Walang laman na yon lol.

Anyway, rainy morning, people.

[–] mr_m00@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Even if walang laman, they may steal other information from you. May as well be careful.

I changed my password naman after I found out about it. Removed my connected bank accounts din, just to be sure since I haven't used it in a while.

[–] decadentrebel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If OP has an active payment method they could also use that.

[–] 8rhn6t6s@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Add 2fa na lang din para safe ahahaha. And don't reuse passwords

Personal take on GOMO's UNLI DATA:

  • Is it enough for everyday use? More than enough (comms, emails, web surfing)
  • Is it really slow? Depends on the location, as always. GOMO can maximize 5Mbps (625KB/s) efficiently.
  • Is it good for gaming? I don't do online gaming on my phone, so I cannot tell (sorry).
  • Is it enough for nitpliks-ing? Oo naman. Naka-auto setting lang ako sa app, at wala akong na-encounter na buffering pagktapos mag-stream ng Lawrence of Arabia (3hrs), Wild Things (1h48m), at Do Revenge (1h58).
  • Okay ba sa spotepai? Yes.

[–] rman0159@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I use Gomo as backup for WFH.

No one updates her Wikipedia page since early morning. She's way ahead of her time.

Azkals qualifying group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup/2027 AFC Asian Cup:

Philippines
Iraq
Vietnam
Indonesia or Brunei

Top two qualify for the Asian Cup and can still qualify for the World Cup. Bottom two can still qualify for the Asian Cup but not the World Cup.

Dati kapag sinabi think of your happy place hirap ako mag-isip. As an afterthought isipin ko na lang kumakain ako ng pagkain and ok na yun. Medyo pilit, but it works.

Now, it's more specific and sure na lol. It's peaceful and my mind is clear.

I guess I'm just really amazed. May ganito pala.

Thought reddit killed i.reddit/compact mode already.

[–] yeontura@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You can still access it on reddit.com/.i

But if you want to navigate through it will redirect back into regular Reddit, so I use Redirector, a Google Chrome extension.

Was watching economic news lately, and NEDA had said that we are on track to becoming an upper middle income country. I could not believe it then I realize that our Gini coefficient's to blame HAHAH too much income inequality.

Hope our economic planners could do something about our country's wealth gap, though I think that if there's something they could have done, they would have done it ages ago.

inb4 DOLE conducts TAV for microbusinesses. These businesses are already thriving to break-even, tapos mag-iimplement pa sila ng OSH at benefits na sobrang mahal.

[–] Periwinkledot@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Bakit may mga spam messages pa rin?

Yalda Hakim joins Sky News for new international news show

Lilipat na sa Sky News si Yalda Hakim ng BBC. Looks like apektado siya sa mga changes ng BBC News Channel after nag-merge ang domestic BBC News at BBC World News channels.

[–] yeontura@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Hanep ni PaoLUL tinuloy nga yung NPC stream niya

Daming buyers remorse sa Starlink ngayon may bagyo, haha. Yan kasi, Elon pa more!

Edit: I wonder if cloudy skies is going to be a problem for satellite cell signals like ASTS too. Okay sama sila on hard to reach rescue areas.

[–] Neonridex@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Starlink is intended for rural areas naman talaga without fiber optic or any sort of physical connections.

[–] MixedRaceHumanAI@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Can't believe I found this guy (Justice Der) just in time for the chill, downtempo kind of rainy day.

Better yet, dude has a 3 hour compilation of tastefully chill guitar goodness.

Perfect for setting da mood, ~~foreplay before rough play~~ studying, reading a book, or drinking some whiskey, not going to work and calling it a chill day.

Be safe and dry mga Phlemmings.

Hopefully not, all my homies hate Kevin Spacey

[–] MixedRaceHumanAI@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Lack of evidence. He literally saw this coming, and videos he uploaded on YT completely shows.

Baka mga clout chaser yung mga nagfifile against him. We dunno.

Is he slow?

Lost in the Filipinas euphoria were the efforts of the RP Blu Girls whose "Cinderella run" on the softball WC ended today.

[OPINION] A climate advocate reviews β€˜Oppenheimer’

Sa wakas, a sort of deep dive on the movie rather than the deluge of "bEtCha mY GoLLy WoW bEsT mOviE eVar" that your pa-intellectual meathead likes to blabber about. I loved the movie, but it's not perfect.

[–] MixedRaceHumanAI@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Like every Nolan pictures, it's not perfect. His pictures' "unusual" audio mixing is glaring since The Dark Knight Rises. I just wish more studios take a risk and trust the filmmaker's vision and fulfill audiences' demands... like good storytelling and good performances.

Oppenheimer is like 12 Angry Men but excessively loud.

Today’s Ask PHlemmy: What’s your favorite childhood memory?

[–] edgarr@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

my uncle didnt have a child then and treated me like his son, he would make mini parachutes with black trashbags and attached it to a small metal thing that acted as the person. Then iaangkas nya ako sa single nyang motor and go to a highpoint in our barangay and throw it then watch it deploy and fall. (sorry for littering)

thinking about it, he did a lot of similar things for me, took me fishing, made me kites, created old school fire crackers, played video games with NES.
(My father was working in manila most of the time kaya mas kasama ko uncle ko) I love my Tito!

[–] Amoureussee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

My first birthday.

I have no memories of it that I recall, but I do have pictures. Everyone was happy, problems were much simpler back then. It is what these photos trigger in me that make it a favorite childhood memory, though there are much more memories.

Not that I long for those days again, rather I look at them with appreciation and cherish those memories in pictures, even if my one y.o. self could not retain those moments in my memory at the time.

I used to (ignorantly) find taking pictures pointless. Looking back, I'm glad I had pictures of important moments like these. Not the SOCMED kind, but the truly special moments, the snapshots of our lives.

Going to our aunt's house on Christmas Day.

Love those Dutch angle shots and bizarre commercials ads exclusive for that show. Bizarre siguro kasi di ko nakita o narinig dito sa probinsiya ang mga ina-advert nila, like Tropical Hut o shipping companies, at Grade 1 ako na-discover ko tong show. lol

every time nag aaway parents namin, narelocate kami ng room ni mudraks to sleep.. di ko maintindihan pero parang masaya ako na andun kami sa separate room natutulog...

Watching cable TV. We got cable TV back in 1995 and my favorite channel was CNN International. Naalala ko dati ang schedule niyan is different from CNN US unlike today and I watched their World News as well as World Report which they show news reports contributed from TV stations around the world.

In addition to CNNI, naabutan ko pa ang Star Plus (later Star World and Fox Life, now defunct), HBO, Cartoon Network, Sky 1 (later Pinoy Blockbuster Channel and now Cinema One), SNN (now ANC), I Channel (later Lifestyle Network and now Metro Channel), Aquarium Channel, Vid-Ok (now Myx), and the now defunct Philippine Medical Television channel (PMTV). World (UK), Arirang (South Korea), Worldnet (now VOA TV), NHK BS1, CFI (France), at DW (Germany). I also watched the UHF stations such as SBN 21, RJTV 29, Citynet 27, and CTV 31 via cable.

[–] decadentrebel@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

My favorite cable channel of all time was i Channel on SkyCable. Puros cartoons sa umaga with some cooking shows (Frugal Gourmet) sprinkled in between, then sa gabi mga American sitcoms and dramas. Pag Friday night naman mga violent anime (8 Man After) and adult-themed programs (Dream On), which I shouldn't be watching. lol.

Excited ako everytime mag-ggrocery kasi pwede ako maghagis lang ng kung anu ano sa shopping cart without worrying about paying for it. Ang kids-centric pa naman ng packaging ng mga snacks back then.
