Remember, when money = speech, we all lose.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 25 points 5 months ago

He repealed 112 climate regulations in his first term, setting us back over a decade of progress.

This is his move. He puts capitalism into overdrive while making a ton of noise in the news as a smokescreen.

Trump would gladly burn his own mother alive to benefit himself and look like a "winner". Fucking loser, dude is a fucking loser. He has a loser syndrome. He must've gone through a lot of shit as a child.

[–] CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 30 points 5 months ago (1 children)

By a lot of shit you mean a hoard of domestic employees that he definitely thought of as his slaves then yeah he went through a lot. He's never been meaningfully told, "no you can't have your way" by anyone

[–] penquin@lemm.ee 5 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I'm thinking he was abused as a child or something. Dude is not normal.

[–] orbitz@lemmy.ca 19 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I thought with Trump his Dad schooled him to behave the way he did, always pitting the sons against each other, never accept a loss etc. It'd be easier to pity him under that view if he wasn't trying to wreck the world.

Oh and him not realizing this even being an old man at this point. At some point people need to learn some self reflection but when you have access to as much money as Trump (not as much as he claims) there's not much reason to.

[–] SreudianFlip@sh.itjust.works 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Being served all the time is a form of child abuse in my books.

Spoiled kids are abused kids who often become abusers.

Spoiled means less likely to be a healthy adult.

[–] penquin@lemm.ee 1 points 5 months ago

Sounds about right.

[–] Hegar@kbin.social 21 points 5 months ago

The best description I heard was that he was a man born with the greatest privilege of all - to have never once been disturbed by the stirring of a conscience.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

I read Mary Trump’s book, and yeah Fred Christ did a number on every one of the kids, and the wife. So definitely damaged, but not that far away from a lot of other people.

I think you have to add that, 70 years, cocaine and adderall, and dementia to get the grotesque Antichrist who’s taken over the GQP.

It’s just so sad to watch the corporate news pantomime all these stories like he’s even remotely ‘normal’.

Despite the oil industry’s complaints about Biden’s policies, the United States is now producing more oil than any country ever has, pumping nearly 13 million barrels per day on average last year. ExxonMobil and Chevron, the largest U.S. energy companies, reported their biggest annual profits in a decade last year.

The U.S. accounted for 14.7% of crude oil production worldwide in 2022, compared to 13.1% for Saudi Arabia and 12.7% for Russia.

[–] MxM111@kbin.social 36 points 5 months ago (7 children)

Is not it like super illegal?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 36 points 5 months ago (1 children)

“illegal” is something we made up for the poors, ducky! That’s not for us!

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 5 months ago

Yep yep yep!

[–] randompasta@lemmy.today 21 points 5 months ago

If you already have a lot of money, no.

[–] sharkaccident@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

No it's an "official presidential act"

[–] Hegar@kbin.social 6 points 5 months ago

The courts legalized bribery years back.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.de 2 points 5 months ago

Campaign donation loophole

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 5 months ago

Democracies hate this one simple trick...

When lawmakers want to take a bribe, all they have to do is legalize it. Or, skip all that and go for the goal - convince executives and the courts it's legal, because you did bribery with extra steps. It's a totally new thing I just made up

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 0 points 5 months ago

Hasn't stopped him before.

[–] Mastengwe@lemm.ee 35 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Keep in mind that there are bad actors here that want you to believe that both sides are the same.

There is enough evidence to prove this not to be the case, but call them out when you see them. And…

VOTE LIKE LIVES DEPEND ON IT.

[–] Morcyphr@lemmy.one 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I've always hated the phrase "bad actors." It's a meaningless descriptor.

The two sides do not operate the same, necessarily, or hold the same views. But both are oppressive and corrupt in their own ways. It's not even debatable.

I'm firmly in the D liberal camp, but I don't lie to myself that those Ds in power actually give a shit about me or people like me. Their interests are in securing their own money/power structure. Sure, sometimes that trickles down to help us common folk, but it's just an accidental side effect.

I'll definitely vote like lives depend on it, but, unfortunately, how folks vote depend on who's lives they find important to save; that's not as straightforward as it should be.

[–] Mastengwe@lemm.ee 0 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I don’t disagree. But the way I see it, if the D’s are finding a way to profit from things like clean energy, fair wages, affordable housing, and reduced tuition costs…..

Then I’m all for them getting filthy fucking rich.

Granted I know they’re not all so altruistic, but the corruption from the left side of the aisle is FAR less dangerous to our future than it is from the right. Especially when you look at the platforms and policy on each side.

[–] Grobmobularb@lemmy.world 32 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ, that fat fuck is trying to fuck the entire future of our country over just to stay out of prison. I can’t wait for him to die and I hope it’s really painful.

[–] Crowfiend@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

~~country~~ world

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 25 points 5 months ago

Well, fuck that

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago

I say this from the bottom of my heart… fuck Trump.

[–] Dreizehn@kbin.social 13 points 5 months ago

Putin's Sock Puppets wants to turn the USA into f'n polluted Russia or China.

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Let's remember the immortal words of the great wordsmith, the sublime epithets of the magnificent poet Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., who, in a perfect moment of genius, rightly said of Mr. Trump: "he a ho".

Words so true that Truth itself looks like a lie compared to them.

The platonic ideal. You wouldn't know her. She goes to another school.

John Roberts still wouldn't think this was quid pro quo.
