Lol no, of course not. Businesses defend one thing and one thing alone: their profits. "The economy" doesn't really factor into it, as long as profits go up in the short term. It's all relative to the last quarter. So a fascist gets in and tanks the economy; CEO gets a bonus and a seat at the table, and everyone else gets either layoffs or triple the workload and a pay cut.
