That friend I was talking about the other day, the one who had that breakup.

He's completely imploded. He's done some stuff that's basically pushed almost all his friends away. Just crazy stuff, like stealing from friends etc

I'm taking a biiiiig step back.

It's sad to see, but I don't think I'm going to have much to do with him for a long while.

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (2 children)

How does one go from a break-up to stealing?

I mean stupid drunk stuff, I get?

I taught the boys to wave at busses and they do it without fail now. I think it's time to take them for a ride on a bus

[โ€“] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Donโ€™t forget the trains! Some drivers will toot if kids wave, to add extra excitement

$5 to anyone who can make it not Monday when I wake up tomorrow

[โ€“] bull@aussie.zone 11 points 7 months ago

I just need your address and a brick. What day would you like it to be? I'll warm up my swingin' arm.

Sometime around Monday/Tuesday I passed a milestone of six months on my running streak. Every day since October 16, I've gone for a run. I've averaged about 6 hours a week running, or roughly 24 hours running every 4 weeks.

I wonder whether I'll make it to a year? It would mean not getting sick for a year. Seems unlikely.

Morning all. Going to my parentsโ€™ for lunch, so for now I await pickup

Note to self....wear a mask when you vacuum the pre filter in the air cleaner so you don't cop a face of all that dust out the back of the vacuum..โ˜น๏ธ. Hopefully there's some antihistamines still lurking in the cupboard from spring...

Oooo. I got one. Keep your mouth closed when scrubbing the toilet bowl.

[โ€“] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Successful day in the garden. Grass mowed for first time in months, weeds pulled, plants pruned, leaves collected, green bin is full. Perfect day for it.

I feel very Melburnian today. Instead of my usual cuppa tea I French pressed some coffee. I should go and line up at a register at Coles with my puffer jacket on and buy some croissants for that all round Melbourne experience. Oo la la

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

You buy your croissants from Coles and not the expensive bakery or food store that's mostly a cafe?

Hypothetical situation.

You are having an extremely busy week at work. You have to bring your work home with you, to the point where you're not having time for much else, like taking care of yourself.

You have a partner you don't live with. You tell your partner you can't see them for a couple of weeks because you're too busy and having trouble coping. What do you do as the partner in this situation?

[โ€“] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago (3 children)

Drop some dinners off, maybe offer to help with laundry

[โ€“] wscholermann@aussie.zone 9 points 7 months ago

As the partner I would say ok no problem if you need anything let me know.

Offer some help if I can, even if it's just to listen to some venting. Maybe take dinner over when things settle down.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

Offer to help.

I have been earwormed by one of my AI song versions that I already deleted. This is a special new sort of frustration!

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (2 children)

I may have "I bark about walks now. woof woof!" on repeat in my brain.

I think they nead an earworm warning on AI song generators.

I've been having a headache that's as much nausea as head pain. Don't tell me the migraines are back. Then again dark chocolate is sometimes a headache trigger for me.

I'm having insights that are telling me I need to get good at art fundamentals but I don't have the discipline to practice. It's so boring and stressful to make yourself fail for the purpose of learning and draw incomplete imperfect things. Right now it seems to be enough of a challenge to get through each day.

I still haven't been able to figure out what went wrong with the computer before but it hasn't happened again, and I'm hoping it stays like that. My driver was out of date so I updated it but that's about all I've done.

I did notice some funkiness in HWMonitor though. My copy utilisation was being... Weird. It was normal, then I checked 20 minutes later, and HWM reported it peaked at 8000%. I thought that was weird but just chalked it up to an error. Then half an hour later it was saying it had peaked at 54,645%. Now it's saying it peaked at "18112064992...%" and my 3D utilisation apparently peaked at 9027.2%. I've got no clue what's causing that, but there's that ig.

I've also kept an eye on the other values and nothing seems too out of place, although apparently it's dedicated RAM has ranged from 400Mhz to 6001Mhz. The temperatures have not gone above 48c.

So key takeaway: idk what's going on, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again

Here's the values HWM is reporting if anybody is wondering:

Being overseas I'm reminded once again that cafe culture and laneway art is really not unique to Melbourne and yet it's spruiked here as the best thing since sliced bread.
