Amazing how well it blends in with the tree bark. Really cool insect.

This really blew up! Here's another pic. This is how I found him in a parking lot. Stuck on his back trying to flip himself over.

Lmao. Scrolling through a ton of climate, political, and Reddit drama, only to see a neat bug that everyone's excited about.

So cool.

Cool!

Plus, this would be great in the c/bugs community!

Just like in Animal Crossing

My son said the same thing. He got a kick out of it. I even talked him into holding it.

Is it as pokey as it looks?

[–] ki77erb@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not at all pokey and completely harmless but the legs are VERY grippy. When you pull them off it's like velcro.

I was hoping it was closer to me. I've been trying to find some near me for a photo shoot for a while now but no luck.

I was reading about them and it says they prefer ash trees so maybe look for those in the forests near you. Also in rotted logs and tree stumps.

I'd be insanely disappointed if something so cool didn't turn into a tattoo. That needs to be there forever no matter how long it takes to get it done
