Wait, meta is in the manufacturing business? I missed the memo. I'm in electronics mfg and I'm surprised anyone would bother. It's a hard business. Do they make their chips or foundry them? Anyone have any insights?
Given Nvidia doesn't even make their own chips I would assume Meta is just designing them and having someone else make them. What I'm confused by is that I thought that Google and the like have been making their own chips for a while for example Google TPUs. Not sure if Meta is just getting into the game or if it's them splitting hairs over general AI chips vs Gen AI chips.
