I just made the new daily thread because I went to bed two hours ago and thought it was 7am ๐Ÿ™ƒ

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

I once had a nap and tried to go to work at 7pm. Got about half way in before brain clicked over.

Omg. So much stuff. Someone got a new outfit.

bad vibesHonestly considering carrying a brick around with me to see if people still want to cut me off at zebra crossings. Had a dude turn his head to stare at me while he nearly ran me over at a crossing and then he had the audacity to give me the 'thanks' hand wave...

Every single day I go outside I nearly get ran over, but it's always at crossings and not when I'm jaywalking. Pisses me off so much.

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

A brick or a stick honestly isn't a bad idea. The cops would probably get arcy if they saw you carrying a real brick, but I was reading a thread where someone else was saying the same thing in a different community the other day and apparently there's like collapsible type bricks that you can fold out to full size. If you were to keep that in your backpack and pull it out around the corner from the crossings that always give you trouble, it'd probably still achieve the same thing, with the added affect nobody's going to start accusing you of breaking into people's houses

Had my once-every-many-weeks check of LinkedIn on the desktop to see connection requests and the like. Found myself hit with that pang of realising how stagnant I was for years at my past role - can't blame the workplace entirely, but I feel like I lost so much of my more passionate years while hamstrung by visa conditions. I have the freedom now but not as much excitement any more...

Something definitely needs to change. I don't have huge ambitions but I also want to aim a little higher (in a sustainable way).... think with whatever experience I get in the next year and a half or so, I might be able to shift my career into something more interesting or substantial. Maybe do a formal qualification in spatial tech and get a gig in some cool environmental fieldwork company.

Itโ€™s surprisingly quiet up there.

City outing with the fam today. Dinner on Lygon street. Ordered a beer and the waiter put it in front of my son. We had a chuckle and asked the waiter how old did he think my son was. The dude said 18+20 for sure.

I think it made my son's, who is actually 14, year.

I'm going to Daiso to buy some shit I don't need. It's my first time there although I vaguely remember there being one in Airport West many many moons ago or something similar. Anyway I'm off to buy some cute shit.

Going for an evening walk before dinner as itโ€™ll be a while before itโ€™s light at this time. Love daylight saving, I will miss it.

[โ€“] bacon@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago

I don't mind dark mornings. I need bright evenings.

I have a theory that cats are actually talking to us but we can't understand because they actually speak with a very heavy Glaswegian accent. Like Rab Nesbitt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k7VoFiagfs

My new time organisation is going well to plan.

Weekends for doing household work, weekdays for doing school and art with some cooking chores and cat chores

Also got all my stuff ready to dye my hair tomorrow. It's been 4 months . Blue black hair, yay ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hating the darkness - struggle to see properly driving in the dark with the oncoming bright car headlights. I bought some yellow glasses to try. Canโ€™t avoid it due to work.

I'm going to bed. Try to stop me

There's no such thing as time at the end of daylight savings, it's all out the window. Go bananas.

Sleep well!

Can confirm. I just decided I didn't need to pack a raincoat for my travels today, thereby dooming us all. Sorry

My Woolies order arrived three hours late and turned out not to be mine at all. So I still don't have any useful groceries and I need to find somewhere to donate a big box of nappies.

Goddamn Minh Phat. so easy to spend so much on delicious condiments and dried and frozen goods and everything. Most of what I've bought should last me for half a year at least though. The $30 worth of dried mushrooms in particular. 500g goes a long way and these small mushrooms are great as they rehydrate a lot faster, no need to prep so far in advance.
