If housing was such a provincial matter, why can't the province solve it then? If they request federal to help, why are they so surprised there's conditions (fairly reasonable like not prohibiting 4-unit housing) that go with it?

I'd accept if he was all about

  • immediately changing zoning so there's no more medium- or low-density housing within 2km of a shopping center or train station; and
  • that high-dense needed to allocate 75% of footprint for public parks (essentially massively overbuying footprint to lock in for park space; can be gated overnight and can be over parking structures); and
  • that new dev can only eat low-dense buildings like townhouses and bungalows and any wood-framed firetrap junk
