The internet has made April Fools Day really annoying, cause you have to put up with like 24 hours of hilarious pranks, most of which are outside of actual April Fools Day times.
Yeah, I wrote this elsewhere last night, and yet still managed to get got:
The worst thing about the Internet is that instead of April Fool's being something you deal with from the morning until noon on 1st April, it's something that basically might last from late on 31st March until the afternoon of 2nd April, and you have no idea whether something someone did was supposedly on 1st April for them or not.
In this case I don't actually even have that excuse. It was published in Australia with the reveal coming at 11 am my time.
I don't wanna go to work tomorrow 😭
It must be one of the most hated Tuesdays
I spent some time last night fixing the rejection line which has had a bug that popped up during a MySQL upgrade some time back and I only recently worked out (was trying to close the db link after it was already closed in certain situations, which instead of generating an error causes a segfault? bit crazy imo), also I converted from a long abandoned SMS -> HTTP app to Tasker and my own actions. So that was good. There was a long period where only a fraction of the incoming calls and SMS were getting posted and it would stop working for a week or so at a time. Fingers crossed we're back in reliable action.
Then today I mowed (zzz, again) and found my RC car that the dogs chase around the yard has something broken in the steering so I bought a new one.
Got a new Sony head-unit installed in my car. Now I can finally use Android Auto for the first time. Super excited!
I actually dont like Android Auto. It gimps the phone too much. I know you're not supposed to touch your phone while you drive etc, but I spend more time checking the screen to see if Google has understood my voice command properly (which it never has) versus tapping an icon. for YouTube Music etc.
Also other stupid things like you cant thumbs up / down songs as they play to improve your YT Radio... and other stuff I cant think of just now.
Yes, I found out yesterday Google Voice commands does not like it when two street names sound the same but spelt different (Highland vs. Hyland).
Tried testing getting directions to my parents house, and it tried to send me to NSW. Literally had to spell out the street name. At that point, it would be faster typing it then fluffing around with voice commands.
Personally, I have come from straight bluetooth, so I have never really interacted with a car stereo while driving before. Usually, I would setup my Spotify playlist and maps before moving the vehicle. Good to know of the limitations, but maybe that's intentional so the driver doesn't start pressing buttons while driving.
