MODERATORS

Hey all!

This should be available sometime later in the day. Huge thanks for a few new contributors - @joshua-davis-rose and @bohn002 - for putting in a lot of work as well.

  • Subscriptions now available in a drawer instead of "Traverse". More of an Apollo-esque style
  • Switch accounts by pressing and holding the profile button. Feed header now allows you to select Local/All/Subscriptions
  • Continuing to improve image viewer
  • Saving images and sharing images now uses the cached files to share, so you don't need to re-download them
  • Alphabetized subscription list
  • Community about screen now shows moderators
  • You can swipe back using anywhere in the tab bar (I've been experimenting with full-screen swipe back as well, once I get that ironed out a bit more we will add that too)
  • UI now uses the iOS 14+ dropdowns for context menus
  • Cleaned up some issues with longer community names, but there are still more to handle. Keep an eye out.
  • Subscriber count is now in the community search
  • All NSFW image issues should be fixed
  • Lots of performance enhancements around the app
  • Also lots of bug fixes, especially for a few newly discovered crashes

Please be sure to report any issues to the GitHub if you can. It is much easier to track there than it is here. There's a lot of traffic, so it's hard to keep track of all of it!

Stay tuned for more coming throughout the week!

Thanks so much to the dev team and everyone who contributed, the app is shaping up to be really nice and feature-rich.

swipe back and subscriber count in the search are the excellent improvements! 👏

Hey dev team! Thank you so much for the updates. Use Memmy on the daily basis.

Now that Lemmy grows, I as a mod really need to get good mod tools on mobile apps. Such as a pushnotification on new entries in modmail. I'm fully aware that you guys are busy enough but is there maybe a update on when this can/will be implemented?

For example, now I need to manual check the mobile version of the website, go to modmail and moderate from there. If there is a is a comment section with 100+ comments, it is a huge hassle to find and delete the comment.

Getting the better context menus going was a huge first step. Plan on doing mod tool stuff this week 👍👍

Awesome! Looking forward to it, thanks.

congrats man, super dope release.

Awesome work! Probably wouldn't even be on Lemmy if it wasnt for this great app!

[–] G_Wash1776@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Same, came over from Apollo and Reddit. I have Voyager, but idk what it is about this app I just absolutely love it.

This isn’t important but this post should be stickied, and the posts for the out of date updates should be unstickied.

Thanks for all the work!

I agree. It’s a small, but important change.

I actually really liked that the app had a dedicated tab for communities (Traverse). I’m sad to see it going away, I never liked swiping for the subreddits in Apollo.

[–] gkd@lemmy.ml 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well we’d like to make some things customizable, so that very well could be one of them.

For the record I’m actually with you on that, which is why I’m interested in seeing how we can get the best of both worlds 👍

[–] playxdestroy@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

awesome. thanks!

[–] mcleod5000@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I second that. Liked it as well.

Will the feed selection (All/Local/Subscribed) be saved between app restarts? I really don’t want gonewild (or other NSFW content) posts from All to be at the top of the feed when I’m launching the app in public. I always have to switch to Subscribed manually right now

[–] DuckGuy@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You can set a default sort option in the settings.

Settings > Content > Default Listing Type

[–] phillipp@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago

Didn’t know that - thanks!

I agree, everything is really nice, but it would be even better if it saved that I was on the subscribed part. Thanks for the work!

Keep up the great work! The app has become zo much more polished in just a month's time!

[–] HangingFruit@czech-lemmy.eu 6 points 1 year ago

Perfect! + 100 for the long press actions

[–] Sev@feddit.uk 6 points 1 year ago

Good stuff, still holding out on 'scroll past to mark read' for lazy browsing :)

[–] G_Wash1776@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much for making such an awesome app and giving such timely updates! I’d gotten used to the traverse menu, was starting to really like it

[–] Nolando@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Memmy has been such a good experience in the short time it’s been around, and I hope it only gets better from here. Thanks dev team!

[–] Jpopy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Is this going to be a TestFlight update first or both TestFlight and App Store? Thanks for the great work on this!

[–] supermurs@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much!

[–] fraksken@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

Congratz on the release and thank you so much!

[–] yaniv@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Congrats, and thank you! 💪🏻

[–] Flippanteer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Love the new swipe back feature, such a convenient feature to not have to reach across the screen, thanks!

Looks like the new update did slow down the app smoothness though, I’m no longer scrolling the app at full refresh rate and stutters are occurring during scroll and when pulling out community drawer. But, I know everything is a work in progress and it’s really shaping up!

[–] gkd@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks for letting me know. What device are you using?

Thank you for your team’s hard work! Loved this update

[–] cnqr@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hi @gkd@lemmy.ml

Thanks for the update and improvements.

Fyi, Hide NSFW still doesn’t work. Would really appreciate if this was fixed.

[–] gkd@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I am completely unable to reproduce these issues, which is giving me a lot of headache. Can you link me a post that should have been hidden but was not?

[–] cnqr@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

Sure, this is the 10th post in my home page when I select ‘All’ and sort by ‘Active’.

Both ‘Blur NSFW’ and ‘Hide NSFW’ are toggled on.

Great work, I love working this app evolve.

Now my one pet peeve/ feature request:

Can we get the option to always show the instance next to a community name? Especially for subs like “meta” or “main”, knowing the instance makes a huge difference. And right now it takes several taps to find that.

[–] mancy@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Wow guys. This app is almost perfect at this point!

[–] th3dogcow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (10 children)

Great update. Love that the subscriptions seem to be cached or preloaded.

One thing I noticed is there is extra space below the bottom bar (at least on my iPhone 8).

Love what you’ve done with the app! Amazing work - it’s super cool to see how fast this has come almost out of the blue. Out of curiosity - with the changes to the image viewer, do you anticipate to support long pressing to open the options menu, in addition to tapping on the icon at the bottom right?
