I usually download from libgen and read on Panels on my iPad, but often issues of the same series use different naming conventions and they all get mixed up. Is there any way to semi-automatically rename and organize comics?

If you want some method of making all filenames have same format, use advanced renamer

If you want something to automatically fetch metadata, use calibre or YAClibrary.

I the developer of ThreeTwo, which is aimed towards such use cases and I sure would love some testers (GitHub: https://github.com/rishighan/threetwo) and Discord: https://discord.gg/n4HZ4j33uT

Looks interesting, but the time between updates is concerning, I'll keep my eye on it in the future.

Since Iโ€™m the only one working on it for about 2+ years, I would say this sort of a cadence in terms of what you would call updates is the norm. I actively develop it, fix bugs, take feedback and build new features; and as such the beta does have testers that work with me on the roadmap. Hope you find it intriguing enough to revisit.

Comicrack is really the best. It's amazing for wireless sync. The software was abandoned by the dev but there's actually a pretty great community on Reddit for it. Theres a workflow there someone made that essentially you can dump all your comics into a folder, and (you do have to do some of the input) within 5 minutes you'll have all the comics tagged, labeled, organized into appropriate folders, all the metadata, and ready to sync to your external tablet. I just synced 8000+ comics last night with it

I would love to figure it out, I'm afraid there are some roadblocks I'm figuring out the right method of getting it to work properly.

This is the workflow I used. I did have to do a decent amount of customizing to get it right, changing folders, adding publishers, but now its really easy. I can dump 300+ comics into a folder and have them organized in a really short time. Getting it started did take some time, but once the work flow was setup it is actually really great

Try Comic Tagger https://github.com/comictagger/comictagger. It's great for renaming and setting metadata that it pulls from Comic Vine.

Is it just the filename you need to change? If so try the software Bulk Rename Utility. It allows you to rename large amounts of files with features like find and replace, remove characters, sequential numbering, etc

I'm lazy, so I was hoping to find some comics-specific tool that searches the web for the right filenames.

I remember there being something like that for games on the Wii homebrew channel when I was a kid. You would select it from the menu and it would look online for the right name and cover
