Makes sense, he's not a superb actor really imo. Likable and serviceable, but I've never seen him in anything where he's blown me away.

His range as an actor is also extremely limited. His acting can even get decidedly cringeworthy whenever he has tried to move outside his comfort zone of playing a stoic action hero (or stoner kid in his younger days).

It's just a circlejerk invented by studio heads to keep the creatives focused on competing with each other rather than demanding better treatment from them anyway 🤷
