So are they actually going to bother to release this one, or...

Aren't people tired of super hero movies? I feel like Marvel kinda saturated the market and DC has just been in the background.

This could be an opportunity to actually make a decent superhero movie if it's a continuation of the HBO series. That would make sense because people are already invested in the characters and I don't think anyone really wanted that series to end. Most likely though DC will fuck it up like they always do with the theatrical releases and just make another pointless reboot. I really wish they would make a Doom Patrol movie since Snyder just decided to cancel the series because it didn't fit his bullshit "Snyderverse" plans

Marvel absolutely saturated the market years ago and DC movies have always seemed like the store brand equivalent. I don't know why they even bother to keep trying when they always seem to half ass their movie productions and the entire genre is so worn out. Animated DC stuff is great. Live action DC almost always falls flat.

Hot Take: There are only a handful of original super hero stories. Everything else is essentially Buffy the Vampire slayer.

Don't get me wrong, I love Buffy. It really set the modern standard for the modern TV and Movie super hero. The few SuperHero movies we get that aren't a Buffy derivative tend to be more dark Alan Moore-esque derived stories. Alan Moore sees Heros as flawed, twisted, sad, and relatable. Buffy does this too but it's wit and humor gives it a candy coated shell.

It also feels like they took the formula and put it on its head, instead of monster of the week we now get hero of the week. Audiences tend to come back for sequels when you have a strong cast of protags. But now you have too many protags and the monsters are all samey. This is how you eventually end up with DC character themed Isekai.

Thanks for listening to my semi coherent rant.

DC character themed Isekai.

As much as I hate how accurate this is, I'd probably watch it.

Good news, you can. Suicide Squad Isekai Anime comes out this spring.

My only counter-argument is that Joss Whedon is part of why we have the superhero burnout. I would hazard that's also the reason why you feel that way, given him doing the largest parts of both lol
