I tried watching it right now and turned it off about half way through. The deep and meaningful, touching story is gone, only to be replaced by annoying, contrived characters, and unbelievable situations. I don't understand how this movie is getting such good reviews. I genuinely loved the original, but was mostly just annoyed by all the noise and ridiculous characters in this remake.

So I watched A Man Called Otto not knowing that it was a remake. Honestly I watched it because I like Tom Hanks. And I thought it was okay. Not bad enough to turn off but perhaps that's because I didn't have any expectations going into it.

I can definitely agree that a lot of the characters and situations were a bit unnatural and that's why I say it's just an okay movie.

However unnatural the characters were I still enjoyed Tom Hanks' performance in it and the contrasting relationship he developed with Marisol. I don't know the name of the actress but I liked her performance as well.

Perhaps I should go watch A Man Called Ove now
