Where do you live that delivery people knock on doors? Here in the US, they just toss it on your doorsteps and run.

I'd actually be fine with this.

Here they take the bloody parcel with them and I have to drive 5km away to some shithole convenience store to collect it. It is very much not convenient for me.

It's specific to DHL in America. DHL presence in the US is mostly used for international shipping, domestic rates are pricey. So if something is shipped via DHL it's often something expensive that requires a signature. (I have never received something from DHL that didn't require a signature if they were delivering to end point). They also are overstrained like every other delivery operation... so they just slap a sticker on your door and move on... unless you happen to be right by the door and can catch them.

If they knock, that's something.

In my past experience some delivery guys just left a note.... they probably didn't even have the package. I mean I don't blame them, probably too little people and to many stops so I can see why would happen... it's a company issue.

Now thankfully doesn't happen anymore, except some rare exception.

That said now that I work from home permanently...everytime they have the crazy idea of telling me I wasn't home when I know I was....I have a meltdown. Plus usually there is other people home and I also have a dog that once he hears the doorbell doesn't stop barking like crazy, so it's like even impossible for me to miss it.

And what was this game called in your local area, hmmmm?

[–] Jamie@jamie.moe 2 points 1 year ago

I got a FedEx package today and I sit not 5 feet away from my front door. Man was out of sight before I even jumped up and opened the door.

[–] candyman337@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

A dhl driver backed into my car on the road and almost totalled it.
