Although that type of ai is the low hanging fruit… I also believe long term that will be by design. Your masters have nothing but contempt for you and given a choice they will never allow you to just chill and make art.

Heh. To be fair, my Masters in Design feels similarly.
Only thing that would have been better if you had let AI make it
Turns out automating any work where is a specific desired outcome is really difficult because the type of AI we have today doesn't really have any understanding of what it's doing in any meaningful sense. This makes it pretty much impossible to guarantee that it will behave in a correct way when trying to accomplish a task. The cost of mistakes when applying AI in the real world is very high. A robot that does that wrong thing can cause a lot of physical damage and can even kill people.
On other hand, a lot of creative jobs are low risk. If an article has a typo or an illustration has some weird artifact that's typically not a big deal. Worst case you can get a human to do a second pass to clean it up. This makes AI an attractive proposition for companies since it allows them to cut their staff and just keep a skeleton crew that manages the algorithm.
Yeah we see how well that's panning out
An AI that could reliably take out the trash right now would be far more disastrous in terms of job safety than an AI that can write or create art
Will we at least have benefits?
AI is never making art. It's stealing other people's art
Not that I disagree but so is every other human being who produces art, how do you think we learn if not in a similar way to AI
the stealing part applies to humans too, but the art part does not apply to AI.
No such thing as an original idea, that applies to human brains as well as silicon.
I'm not afraid of AI making art. May be because making music is my hobby and I'm not financially dependent on it.
But what I enjoy about making music is the process, not the result. If AI can do it better, so be it, but that won't drive me away from enjoying the process. And I think that's the same for painters, photographers, writers,... .
There may be less money in those areas in the future, but people will never stop making art.
Awesome start!
That's good.
It would be boring any other way
