Hi everyone! I am a designer researching about food delivery platforms in Europe and in August I will go to Stockholm to immerse myself in the local culture and talk to people.

Can you share some local culture knowledge around online food and grocery shopping?

Also what do you think is particularly different or unique in Sweden regarding food delivery compared to other places and cultures?

  1. Foodora is by far the biggest overall. In the big cities you will have tons of different kinds of food available

  2. What's different? You are not expected to tip, especially not for delivery. ,If you are eating at a restaurant it's appreciated but not expected. There are some strong opinions that people shouldn't tip here (and I'm sure there will be a discussion about it in replies to my awmser), I usually do it to even out the cost or if the service/food was great. For example. If my bill was 380 then I probably even it out to 400. But nobody will be mad to not get any tip. That said, if you are in a crowded bar it's probably safe to say that the bartender might help you faster for the next round if you gave them tip before.

The huge global franchise restaurant chains are much less common, if people want pizza they are not going to Pizza Hut or Dominos (there are only a few of them and only in the big cities). We do have McDonalds and Burger King tho (and our own chain Max) but it has become a lot more common with burger joints with one or two tiers of quality above McDonalds (can't speak what the good ones in Stockholm are). Same with "Casual dining" like Olive Garden or Applebees and you will not find a Starbucks unless you are at a international traveling spot like the airport or the main train station.
