My thoughts about the quran burning is the same as if someone burned a harry potter book or some other fantasy book, I just don't care.

If muslims just stopped beeing so sensitive all the time people would not see a point in burning the quran. Its like asking for it.
No-Cartographer-3218 at 2023-07-07 17:55:58+00:00 ID: jr1vwb2
Its a book. Some idiot burned it.
That shouldve been the end of the story since youre free to do that in sweden but no, people who believe in that book get angry and try to make it a much bigger thing then it should be and due to this the book burner gets insane amounts of attention and can claim a huge success from the book burning instead of just being some random unknown idiot who burns books.
ojsan_ at 2023-07-07 18:19:26+00:00 ID: jr1w3dr
Religion is an idea. Ideas aren’t a protected class. There should be no special protection for a book because it contains religious text.
Also, freedom of religion is my freedom from your religion. Don’t impose your beliefs on me.
abubakkaraslam1 (OP) at 2023-07-07 18:01:53+00:00 ID: jr1wsz8
Fair fair but if I cus you out individually yell out your name swear at you will you fell attacked why does it have to be ideas that do not belong to you a very small percentage of people in Sweden are Muslim but this attack on ideas was still committed just for the sake of commiting it
Competitive_Goose604 at 2023-07-07 18:17:24+00:00 ID: jr1z4ya
But the "holy book" isn't a person. And the person that did it is a former christian man from Iraq turned atheist. Either he glt paid to do it, or he really wants to piss off his former homeland.
Generally, burning books is stupid, they're meant to be read. But if it's my personal belonging that I decide to destroy, and I dont impose any other danger towards people or environment, why should you care what I do with my own stuff?
Snus_Goes_Brrrr at 2023-07-07 18:20:45+00:00 ID: jr1xmu5
The idea of burning books is stupid as shit. But as it is within their right and they're not trying to ban the book, they should definitely be allowed to do it.
PM_that at 2023-07-07 18:30:46+00:00 ID: jr1xl9g
Couldn't care less. Don't like it? Don't come to Sweden.

No_Demand9554 at 2023-07-07 18:07:27+00:00 ID: jr22ecx
Why shouldnt we be allowed to burn your book?
PixelNixle at 2023-07-07 18:17:24+00:00 ID: jr1z4yh
Sure, and as someone from Pakistan, could you give us your thoughts about Christians in Pakistan getting persecuted and killed only for being Christians.
Here's an example:
https://www.frontpagemag.com/the-nightmare-of-being-christian-in-pakistan/
You worry about a book getting burned, while at the same time you destroy and murder innocent people. You even make up false stories of blasphemy so you can get government backup in killing them. Pure evil.
abubakkaraslam1 (OP) at 2023-07-07 18:21:46+00:00 ID: jr1zsvk
That is police brutality we face it all together a police officer could arrest you for wearing a yellow shirt look that up by the way
kindacheguevara at 2023-07-07 17:57:14+00:00 ID: jr1w2rc
It's a book and other countries have no say in our laws.
Independent-Space-82 at 2023-07-07 18:13:39+00:00 ID: jr1yy39
Im against the government burning books or banning them, as there should be freedom of religion. But there should also be freedom of speech and protesting against islam is one of those freedoms. Private people and companies should be allowed to burn books as long as its their own books. You cannot destroy other peoples property.
In this case, people following the quran has been behaving terribly, not only to swedish people but islamic terrorists also kill people all across the islamic world. protesting this with burning the quran only to be threaten with more senseless violence is absurd. Seing the islamic world being ok with rape and murder and horrible cultural relics while acting like angry dogs over a burning book is really crazy behavoir.

My question is, why do you give him the satisfaction of getting furious about it? If you didn't find out about the burning your life would literally not change what so ever.
You give weight to something far far away that doesn't affect your life or faith at all, why give them that power?
dugbackagain at 2023-07-07 18:15:51+00:00 ID: jr1zmx3
I will never understand why someone cares about the actions of another that doesn't affect them. Why care that this one person burns this book, even if you hold it sacred? In the same way, why care who somebody sleeps with, what political party they support...
HatWithAChat at 2023-07-07 17:57:07+00:00 ID: jr1zs98
I think it's unnecessary to try to provoke people and I therefore dislike the action. But it's his right to express his opinion so I defend his right to do so.
Notliketheotherkids at 2023-07-07 18:06:59+00:00 ID: jr1zjmh
The same freedom that protects the content in the quran from being banned also protects the rights of those in favor of burning it. Its called religious freedom and freedom of speech, you should try it sometime!
ironparrot at 2023-07-07 18:08:00+00:00 ID: jr1xps9
We don't really care, and a lot of us feel that the average pakistani should be much more concerned that their governement just sold the country to China.

An apostate is a religious person who later rejects the religion. Like a Christian rejecting God, or a Muslim rejecting Allah. (I know God and Allah are the same thing, but for reference.)
Lemonskank at 2023-07-07 18:20:42+00:00 ID: jr1xg8l
Fuck religion, burn all them books.

I don't care about the action itself. I do care about defending our freedom of speech though.
12dec2001 at 2023-07-07 18:21:39+00:00 ID: jr1wi18
It should be allowed. Its just a book. If you are offended just look the other way.

Like anyone can swear at any one like what if you want the person to stop can't you call the police let's say someone is saying lewd things to a female can He be stopped by any one

We do not have blasphemy laws here. That is a good thing. I would never personally burn a Quran or any other book, "holy" or not, and I deeply dislike Rasmus Paludan, but defending the right to do so is vitally important in a democratic society. Freedom of expression is fundamental to democracy. "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it", as Evelyn Beatrice Hall said.
"But people are offended by it!" - so what? Lot's of people are offended by lots of things. We are allowed to criticize religions, just as we are allowed to critize politicians and other people in power. Threats of violence or actual violence are not allowed, but no human is injured or even personally insulted in the burning of a massproduced Quran. No historical artefact is destroyed.
"But they only do it in order to provoke people!" - precisely! And the people it is aimed at seem to almost always fall for it. People burn the Quran to show that the reaction will be rioting, threats of violence and actual violence, and then that's precisely what happens. Way to go proving your enemy right!
By the way, preemptively demanding that people be civil is a great way to get uncivil comments, as you've already discovered.
svenskgurka at 2023-07-07 18:38:25+00:00 ID: jr22hjl
It's a book and people who believe in abrahamic religions are overly sensitive.
