Why did this turn me on?
Well, Trek fandom started making the naughty fanfics right from day one basically, so...50 years of Pavlovian conditioning?
Oh my god, I just realized the first fandom slashfic writers are like 70 now. Or something. Probably.
Bjo Trimble is turning 90 in a month.
It's easy enough to forget that the very term "slash fiction" came from "Kirk/Spock" stories in early fanzines.

No holodecks yet in this era. The bet I'm interested in is whether Nurse Chapel gets to be his Saavik.

Surely, given the events of TOS Amok Time, this will be neatly dealt with between Spock and T'Pring. It won't even merit an episode without a foreign source of drama lumped in.
He must be off ship, because nobody on the Enterprise in seven years has the first clue what's happening.
