Now THIS is epic!

  • It's fast
  • It's FOSS
  • It's private
  • It supports accounts
  • It has an app
  • It can play YouTube Music tracks
  • The UI is pretty nice

Very well done, everyone! Please accept a star on GitHub.

I had no problem with the previous two frontends (Piped, Invidious). But the main problem with this type of application is that when an enough number of users are reached, YouTube starts banning requests from their instances. Have the authors of this frontend thought about how they will solve this?

[–] BrikoX@vlemmy.net 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

A feature I found particularly interesting is the ability to view community posts which I haven’t seen in any other frontends.

Invidious supports community posts.

[–] Zenaida_macroura@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Oops, I didn't notice that. I'll remove that part.

[–] goodhunter@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Care to elaborate how this differs from invidious and piped?

[–] SmallAlmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Should I try it instead of Piped? If so, why?

[–] CanOpener@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Probably not, Piped supports higher resolutions and better video formats.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

Thanks for sharing. This seems MUCH faster than Invidious.

Well I checked their instance and get this message (No compatible source was found) . But I keep my fingers crossed for the development!

I got the same error. I’m gonna check that on my computer later and see if it works (I wast trying it on mobile). And I checked that without an account so maybe I need that too to change some settings. Thanks for the links! It’s good to heave some other front ends besides Invidious and Piped :)

[–] kikuchiyo@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

It's working and damn it's so fast compared to Invidious and Piped. Thank you so much for that post!!

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Lower your resolution and see if that helps. I get a similar error using Freetube (Windows) when I select a resolution over 720p.

[–] InFTord@lemm.ee 1 points 7 months ago

we have fixed those a while ago, now everything should be right we're getting a website real soon also, with list of instances

[–] npmstart_pray@lemmy.fmhy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I wish I could bookmark/save things I also wish that somebody makes an addon of this for kodi.

[–] Orokos@socel.net 4 points 1 year ago

@Zenaida_macroura i'm probably one of the only people that actually likes that current youtube layout. Just make some overhauls here and there, and it's practically alright.

hopefully there's more instances that show up in the near future, and the development goes pretty smoothly..

[–] Rogue1633@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really like that UI compared to Invidous' Are these videos proxied, so will my IP address be known to Google?

[–] Zenaida_macroura@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

They say the videos are proxied in the github's readme. Your IP should be safe.

[–] CanOpener@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Images don't seem to be proxied.

[–] amanneedsamaid@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

This is awesome!

[–] Armando3996@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

“No compatible source was found for this media.” When trying to view a video using the first instance you linked in your post.
