Never watched myself but I heard Schitt's Creek was critically acclaimed.
CanCon
A place to discuss all forms of Canadian entertainment, including but not limited to television shows, movies, animation, books, music, and theatre.
This community is new and very much a work in progress!
Community Rules:
- No hate speech or bigotry. A zero tolerance policy is in effect for this.
- CanCon is historically defined by the funding (did you know Porky's was the highest grossing Canadian film for decades because of this definition?!). Please feel free to be a bit more liberal in that regard here- if the majority of people involved are Canadian, if the stories are Canadian, if the setting/plot/tropes are Canadian, etc., it's all welcome here!
- Crossposts are welcome, but please identify them as such in your post title.
- Be nice, and remember the human.
Feel free to add others not in the original crosspost. And thanks again to https://lemm.ee/u/oneofthemladygoats@lemmy.ca for creating this community!
Absolutely my pleasure! :)
Your mention of Strange Brew caught my eye, it's such a good movie! Have you ever seen any of the SCTV Bob & Doug sketches? They also have a christmas song that gets played regularly here lol. Beachcombers is another classic that I don't think anyone mentioned in the previous thread; although I personally haven't watched many episodes at all, it's pretty popular with older generations. And if you like TPB, I'd suggest checking out the animated show, it's too funny. They also redid the regular series as animated cats LOL, you can access those episodes if you subscribe to Swearnet.
EDIT- oh, I forgot to mention, I would suggest you check out Made in Canada! I'm not sure if CBC Gem is available for Americans, but if it is, it's very much worth the 5 bucks a month to access their back catalogue for shows like this. It's a show featuring Rick Mercer, who is an absolute Canadian gem himself :)
