A place to talk about roller coasters and parks that have them. Everyone is welcome here to both learn and to celebrate these magnificent machines designed to scare you.

Here are some important resources:

  1. RCDB
  2. Thrill Data
  3. Coast2Coaster
  4. Terminology and Abbreviations

Images are welcome if they are of high quality and it doesn't get out of hand. Please use PostImages to upload your image and then use that link in the URL field of your post (other image sites are permitted but Post Images has the best policies and compatibility).

Some basic rules:

  1. Opinions, theories, and facts are all welcome – but be clear about what you’re saying.

  2. Back up facts with sources as much as possible

  3. No spam or sell-promotion. Linking to your own media or site is permissible only if it’s specifically related to a topic/post that someone else created.

  4. No photos or videos taken on the rides. This is dangerous and shouldn't be encouraged.

  5. Limit political discussion. When discussed it must be park related.

  6. No fictional coasters (models, no limits, planet coaster, etc)

  7. No posting personal information.

  8. No shaming of anyone. We all can continue to learn and not everyone knows everything -- and that's ok.

Twister III is scheduled to open this weekend at Elitch Gardens. This is a renovated version of Twister II which was a recreation of Mr. Twister at the former site of the park (and also the inspiration for Twister at Knoebels).

Never really knew about that coaster but holy crap does it look amazing.... especially with those Vettel trains (even if they were rebuilt).

Same city, but different coaster. The coaster you linked Cyclone at Lakeside Amusement Park, which is a separate location from Elitch Gardens. I've had the chance to ride both Cyclone and Twister II, and I definitely preferred Cyclone. Not much airtime, but it has a few fun drops and some amazing laterals. Although the neighborhood isn't the nicest, the park itself is a very scenic location surrounded by a little lake and several vintage flatrides.

(Plus, Lakeside also features a rare Miler Manufacturing steel wild-mouse coaster from the 50s. It has some great little bunny hills that are absolutely insane with the ride's lack of restraints.)

Never underestimate a Miler 😉

Which Cyclone were you referring to?

The linked rcdb page in the original comment is for a coaster called Cyclone at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver. It's the same area as Elitch Gardens, which is where Twister III is located. They're both white wooden coasters with twisted layouts, but they're two different rides.

I'm still trying to figure out what exact coaster you are talking about. The only cyclone listed in Colorado is the one I linked to.

Aaaaand I just noticed that your original comment was a reply to someone bringing up the Lakeside Cyclone... I thought that you thought that Twister III and Cyclone were the same ride (sorry lol). Naturally I'd make an ass of myself with my first comment on Lemmy 😂

lol that makes sense..... I was so confused lol. We're all figuring out this new land so no worries. I nearly made the same exact mistake on another thread 😂
