@alternativenation a friend of mine introduced me to #Portishead when they were still active, and it was very different to music either of us usually listened to at that time. I still really like them.

I still associate the song Wandering Star with the science fiction show Babylon 5 πŸ˜„
My mind just made a connection there somehow and now I'm stuck with it.

@jarulf @alternativenation I saw Tank Girl (1995) in theatres with my girlfriend at the time.

Glory Box features in a small scene.

She bought the album the next day, and it blew us away.

I am so deeply in love with this album, it’s my #2 personally most influential album.

@Anrky @alternativenation I'm listening to Glory Box this minute! I never saw Tank Girl, but clearly I have to now.
Dummy really is a glorious album.

Portishead is amazing and even bands long dead can bring joy as long as we have access to their work!

@ren Absolutely. Portishead was the only Triphop band I listened to until relatively recently, but they have led me on to #MazzyStar and #MassiveAttack.
What I usually listened to was classics like #BobDylan, #SimonAndGarfunkel, #TheBand etc. Also lots and lots of #REM and #ToriAmos (who made me discover #KateBush)

But hey, I love #JohannSebastianBach and #Allegri too. 😁

@jarulf @ren the Hope Sandoval-Massive attack collabs are amazing. I love Portishead too, I don’t expect to get another album from them but I wonder sometimes what type of style/direction they’d go in if they did.
