I thought it was obvious the Fediverse and kbin are by Kevin Federline, the k and fed are there in the name.

All the people who could understand the fediverse probs already jumped ship to mastodon
The "difficulty" in signing up is a feature, I say.
I get what you're saying but I'm not sure I agree. I'm able to sign up, obviously, but I'm also pretty much neurotypical. I don't think we should put up what are effectively artificial (or at least neglectfully ill-designed) hurdles for people who aren't.
There's a pretty large chunk of people in tech circles like this that really delight in a superiority complex about how much smarter they are than the common rabble, and it's more than a little off-putting.
Least of all because it reminds me of myself as the most insufferable kind of edgelord that I was back in high school.
It's because none of it is actually that hard, it's a matter of putting the effort forth. If you're not willing to put even that bit of effort into it, the content you generate is probably not going to be of high quality anyway.
Sometimes it's not a question of "willing" but "able". I'm just mildly neurodivergent but I still had to put an amount of cognitive energy into understanding the fediverse that I just wouldn't have had available if I wasn't on disability and not working.
Ok call me arrogant but I've had enough of what you call common rabble.
I've read my share of common places, hidden racism, zero value content, "I've done my research and 5g gives you covid", and all that.
Not that a more educated community is always immune to that, but if the 10 minutes worth of googling are enough of a hurdle to keep the soccer mums away I'm ok with that.
Self-curation through obfuscation
God I love this type of conspiracy. It's pure art how combinations of numbers and letters can be sculpted into evidence of sinister cabals.
if you add a few letters to "Fediverse" and then remove a few, it'll spell "Satan".
In numerology, "twitter" translates to 115. 115 translated to an 8-character English word can be "MONOBROW". That's it. Monobrow Cabal conspiracy confirmed!
Hold on....
God I love this type of conspiracy. It's pure art how combinations of numbers and letters can be sculpted into evidence of sinister cabals.
God I love sin?
Nice try, Satan
Well, at least they didn't put various Fediverse developers' name in triple brackets, only for Space Karen to comment "Very interesting..." on it.
Why did you jinx us?
Sorry to be controversial, but I have to say it. Those US turds think that US is the only country in the world and everything spins around them.
Hey, as an American I...well...yeah, pretty much.
I mean, I feel like half the people actively on the Fediverse can't fully understand it, either lol
The thing to get across to people is that you don't need to understand it to use it. Hell, that goes for most things. The average person has no idea how an internal combustion engine works but can drive a car just fine.
Girl, it's Twitter. Don't expect much more than toxicity at best.
Peak twitter.
What about the conFEDeracy!?
Wow. Embarrassing for sure.
That's 2 people though.
This looks more like a joke than "i dum dum dont understand fediverse"...
It's pretty obviously a joke, but Redditors are still completely unable to tell what a joke is even after moving to a whole new platform
I saw a lot of comments like this, I know is more like a joke but they do it because they don't know what the Fediverse is truly about, a lot were saying that's the reason they won't go to Threads and unironically.
Honestly, I think what's going on here is "new platform good, nonadopters bad" and people wanting to believe that this Twitter user is actually confused by us, not making a joke, because we're special smart kids for adopting the Fediverse and anyone who does not is a dummy-dumb-dumb-doodoo head. Of course, not in such crass words, or so obviously laid out, otherwise we'd all catch that kind of thinking for what it is immediately. This team good, that team bad. Fun in sporting matches, not so great when we actively want people to come here and ditch Twitter, and when we get condescending towards other human beings.
That is my honest personal interpretation but I could be wrong :P I'm also affected by my own biases and maybe I am seeing this pattern where it doesn't actually exist.
Truth be told, I don't want these people to join either :p but I also don't want the Fediverse to scare people away based on ignorance, not everyone will take these kinds of Tweets as jokes, I certainly had a hard time believing they were all joking.
