So recently I have been facing this issue that several posts show a higher number of comments than the actual number of comments that i can see. For example in the photo, the number of comments is shown as 14 but the post only shows me 5 comments. Is this some sort of federation issue or is this a bug¿?
To the left you see the number of upvotes, to the right the number of comments each user made.
Yeah but at the top, the post shows 14 comments but the total of number of comments shown in the post is only 5

Both. There is a bug in lemmy_server where federated edits seem to increment the new comment count, It's been mentioned on GitHub issues. See if you can spot if those 5 comments had edits.
3 of the comments did have edits so that might explain it. Thanks for the explanation
