  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Karve Overlander
  • Blade: Sharp Durablade [8]
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Neon Sun - Soap

Good shave. Monday type day the weather is not great and my attitude is quite poor. This scent will surely stick with me all day as it has in the past.

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Fatip Classic Testina Gentile
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (4)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Sni Mato - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP

Decent shave with Mood Indigo. Sometimes this scent smells a little too synthetic, but today I had no such problem. It smelled great.

(Mood)? Indigo++;

I have the newer Indigo-labeled version. I don't get a synthetic feel from it, but I also don't smell all of the scent notes listed for this, or any other, fragrance. :) I like what Ben was trying to reach for with this scent. I don't get a blues/jazz club vibe from it at all, but it does have a mood ;-) to it.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Great shave today. Indigo is among my favorite Mammoth scents this time of year.

Ulrik at Koraat is a master. I'm so happy to own some razors that he has made. The photos don't do this one justice, and the subtle smile at the edge makes it a terrific shaver.

A Stirling Mammoth Monday

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Zenith Boar Brush 31mm × 50mm
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. Coniferous
  • Aftershave: House of Mammoth Santa~~l~~ Noir
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! Spiced
  • Talc: Pinaud Clubman Finest Powder

After a full week using a safety razor, the big 14 felt especially nice! Wintry/christmassy scents today to protest the early onset of spring around here. I'm not ready for chirping birds and budding flowers yet.

Surely it's just a blip and it'll be back to being snowy, right? We've had a couple of sunny days with highs in the 40's (around 6°C maybe).

Speaking of which, we often refer to weather temps as "in the 30's, 80's, etc". Do you guys reference ranges somehow? "Temperatures in the 5 to 9's". Doesn't have the same ring to it.

If we are generalizing my circle of friends seem to talk about the temperature being in the high teens or low twenties and that sort of thing. Near zero we usually go with zero and add above or below in some way. I am in Canada.

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 8 months ago

Interesting. The higher resolution is one thing I like about Fahrenheit. I guess a perfect temperature scale would be 0 where water freezes, and 200 where water boils.

I hope it's just a blip. I'm going skiing in two weeks and I hope for new snow all the way to below 2000 m 😅

Do you guys reference ranges somehow?

No, it's impossible to specify temperature ranges in Celsius 😊

(Also, "My milkshake brings all the boys to the metre" just sounds wrong, we should switch to the imperial system IMO)

SOTD 05.02.2024

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: RazoRock Gamechanger 0.84 OC
  • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Brush: AP Shave Co. 30 mm Tuxedo Fan w/ black & clear handle
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo
  • Post Shave: Natura Siberica ASB gel

Mammoth Monday head shave. 2 passes: I did the most part with the Gamechanger, then some cleanup with a disposable. 3 tiny blood spots due to not shaving for a few days and longer stubble on my dome, but overall a very comfortable shave nonetheless.

I currently have a lot to handle and on top I prepare a little celebration for my 30th birthday on the 1st of March. Originally, I wanted to throw a small party on the following Saturday, but since all my friends are parents who work, we'll see how I can organise everything...

Actually, I never imagined it but turning 30 is hard for me. Sure, I know life doesn't end there, I can still do lots of stuff, most of my friends and current classmates are older and since I'm a bald dude with facial hair I already look thirty for a few years... But seeing how I haven't really achieved anything like my parents or friends did in their 30s (no family/kids, no marriage, no house) kinda pulls me down. Birthday blues is real and I hate it...
(I normally would have written about this in the Free Talk Thread, but since we didn't have one and I forgot to make one too I'll just tack it onto my SOTD. Feel free to laugh about my first world problems.)

[–] walden@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Oh, to be 30 again. Actually, screw that. I'm much happier now that I'm pushing 40!

I need to re-add the Free Talk Friday to the auto-bot now that it seems to be stable.

I guess it's a matter of perspective and being content with the life you live. I have a few good things going on, but I still miss some important parts.

That would be great, thanks. I really enjoy this thread even if there are only a few contributions...
