Hi, I am planning a family ski trip to Idre Fjäll in week 11 (March 11-17). But I am not too familiar with the Swedish climate in the area.

Is this way too late in the year to go skiing there? Am I to expect very little snow and slushy melting snow at that? Or is this totally normal?

I noticed that Idre advertises that they have "snow guarantee" but not sure what to make of it.

I would love to hear the experiences of the natives :-)

PS. We do alpine style skiing. No cross country. If that matters.

Will there be snow, YES! Will it be a little slushy in the afternoon, sure it might be, if your unlucky with the weather.

Average temp in march last year was -3 degrees celcius. Top temp was 7. lowest temp was -14.

Average highest temp of the day was -2 degrees and the Average lowest temp of the day was -6.

March is totally fine, season is to mid april I think! And quite cheap because its after swedens "sport-break" vacation and before easter. I've been to Idre plenty of times. Great for a family, but not so many resturants and that kind of stuff. Can totally recommend it!

I'm not a master skier exactly but I would say it should be a nice week. It's just after the Swedish school holidays so there should be a little less people in the slopes.

According to https://www.xn--sndjup-xxa.se/idre/historik/vecka11 you can expect abot 60-100cm deep snow in the slopes.

I would expect temps above zero in the day (if sunny) and freezing in the nights

It's a good time of the year for skiing. Idre Fjäll is far from exciting, unless you're a beginner, so I'd recommend that you pick another place.

Well for half the family this will be their first time on ski. For the other half they are beginners/intermediate and older people.

March is usually peak season for wintersports in Sweden.
