What bullshit. This shouldn't just be seen as a trial of Trump. It should be seen as a trial of our democracy, and it should be treated as such. If it gets delayed too far then what hope can we have to see justice done by the courts if anything more severe happens? I'm all for a fair trial, but it needs to happen before it can't.

One of many trials. Also, a rather sensational take on the news. "Could" is doing a lot of work.

I mean, any delay of any length pushes it closer to November

Sure. And the March 4 date was removed from the calendar, but it could just as easily be set for March 11 after the ruling.

I don't disagree with you. I do think Axios is rage bate. I do think rage bate is bad for us on every level.

It's just super concerning, Trump's entire plan has been to delay, delay, delay.

The closer it gets to November, the more likely the disinformation that its political interference is going to resonate and have a judge decide, "Oh, it's too close to the election."

Justice delayed is justice denied.

The bigger risk is that he wins and orders the justice department to drop the case.

Why do you think he's trying to delay all of his indictments?

Can't drop a case that's completed

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 2 points 8 months ago

Yes, but check how successful he has been in his delays. He has not been successful. Nor has he been successful claiming immunity.

This is rage bait. If his trial is starts in March, then remember how much energy Axios washed in your life. (Or record your feelings now and check on it March 31.)

The thing is, they need to have a trial date that everyone that has to be there can be there. Having it on the calendar early means that everyone knows when they need to be available and can clear their calendars, and not having a replacement date increases the risk of calendar conflicts (and delays) when they try to reschedule.
