Expats from Reddit's largest community focusing on cannabis flower vaporizers.

  1. Be chill, this is a cannabis forum after all.
  2. Post links, pics, vids talking about where your fav vape/bong/glass/pipe was from.
  3. Don’t sell anything consumable on here. No sales of herb, extract, carts, pens, edibles, drinks, tintcures, anything that’s a consumable product.
  4. DEVICES and ACCESSORIES like a Mighty, Tinymight, some custom glass for a Carta or PuffCo Peak, 510 Mods, log vapes, DIY/One off vapes/pipes/bags/stems/dab tools/Etsy type shit that Etsy bans. That stuff is fine. AT YOUR OWN RISK. And that needs it’s own channel/community(communities) if people are interested in an exchange.
  5. Provide citations/sources for posts/comments where needed.
  6. Openly discuss safety of equipment/devices and cannabis products.
  7. Be mindful of what you post on here. The point is to have the whole server indexed by Google and other search providers and keep the space alive/history documented/growing in the future. (AKA Share Knowledge / Share the vibes. / Don’t get me arrested plz. )

Shortly after opening and paying a $700 electric bill which didn’t even include one of the Dell r720xd boxes 😂….

I’ve coordinated an agreement with a local colo provider, CeraNet that will be housing the servers in a proper data center just up the road.

This will give them dedicated 100mbps/100mbps full duplex fiber (with ability scale up to 10gbps), /29 IP ranges, on site support, and all the other normal data center stuff. It’ll also let my home AC take a break and not run 24/7 to compensate the fires of hell rising up from the basement which will be nice.

The physical install of the first server is scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon. Then I should be able to cutover this domain and it’s VMs a couple days later with minimal downtime. This is also great timing for a move as the last of our two R720xd hosts came online last night, providing a fresh platform and Proxmox 8 to migrate everything into.

There’s going to be a couple of other domains coming online, work preparing to host the Vaporents and other sub archives have been progressing. Have been poking at Lemmy, Mastodon and the other services/docker containers to make them more scalable for multi host installations. Need to follow up on collaborating with the sh.itjust.works team on that after I got sucked back into work for a couple days.

Late last night I removed the pinned posts from /v/vaporents regarding this lemmy instance for the time being. This was because of two pending items:

  • The newly pending physical server relocation
  • Ongoing discussions about my choice to expand the scope of the previously existing/established/paid for BeyondCombuston.net domain rather than intentionally trying to capitalize upon a vaporents related TLD.

I’m sure the second item in that list will be resolved by the time we wrap up the initial server install at the colo data center and we’ll be able to re-pos the announcement then. Consider this last week and next week to be something like a “soft opening” 🤣

With all that, there’s still more to do and it’s been an exhausting week. I need a nap already before doing anything else today 😂
